Re: NEED A GOOD MECHANIC!!!
If your car is an 88, then you don't have VATS. You have another problem. VATS are from 89-92. I'm only going by your profile.

Re: NEED A GOOD MECHANIC!!!
You're giving up too easy. If TPI is what you want and its in the car already, don't be discouraged so quickly because its the easy way out. If its truly the VATS giving you the issue, I'm sure Kevin could program it out for you at some point. Or if you're tired of waiting then give Brian a call at tpichips.com and have them tune it out for you.
If the VATS ends up not being the issue, I have a buddy that could probably help diagnose the problem for you and work on your car on site at home.

Re: NEED A GOOD MECHANIC!!!
Which key are you using? The one from the 88 doesn’t have VATS so it doesn’t have a resistor in it. The Key needs to match the computer to start. If you do a search you will find a list of all the keys. If the key you have isn't matched to the computer you need to watch the video and repeat it with all the values of resistance until it starts, but you will need to wait 10-15 minutes between tries because the computer times out when VATS fails to start car.
OR
Get Kevin to burn a chip with VATS disabled.

Re: NEED A GOOD MECHANIC!!!
Its not just the key, if its an 88 and he didnt swap the column and wiring then the lock cylinder, wiring, and probably the module and everything else is not there. So if it is the VATS causing problems, then it just needs to be disabled in the prom. That said, it should run like garbage (if it will even run) every single time because the VATS does not work sometimes, and work other times. So its more likely something else wrong.

Re: NEED A GOOD MECHANIC!!!
Dyno Don is definitely the man for the job, but if you expect him to do it cheap (or give you an estimate ahead of time) he's too busy for you.
Did doing something the cheap way get you into this mess? When Don has to straighten out somebody else's mess it definitely gets more expensive.
But don't even think about bothering Don for about the next ten days. He's really busy with an important project that he has put off for years that requires his full and complete attention.

Re: NEED A GOOD MECHANIC!!!
I'm not giving up p easily it's just that I did my swap a year agon and I only drove it like 3 times since then an I wana get it up by the 18th if not ima sale it so if ur friend cud help that wud be great is he expensive or fair on prices cuz I just lost my job bout 4 months ago and I'm on that unemploement check money lol... Well do you have TPI chips number? So I an contact him and or ur buddy cuz I really ned my car my other car just to a sh*t too
If the VATS in the computer is truly the issue, my friend will not be able to help you as it needs to be tuned out of the PROM.
If you get the VATS tuned out and the car is still giving you issues, the number to my buddy is 714 917 7five3two. His name is Jason, and let him know Jeremy referred you. He is quite fair pricing wise.

I'll be giving Jason a call too, I've got a couple of Camaro projects needing mechanical work. Is he an overall experienced mechanic, or just electrical.

Have you checked if your getting an injector pulse with a noid light yet? Noid lights are cheap and you can find them in the tool sections at a pep girls, kragers or autozoned.
