Fox 11 News report on street racing

Tonight at 10pm on the Channel 11 FOX news they are doing another blurb on local street racing. From the promos it looks like another import-fest, but there should be some info there for everyone. I have it taped so I can skip thru the BS news to the good part. I'll also check their website and post up the link once they put it online.

Re: Fox 11 News report on street racing

I guess the Police force doesn't have enough to do. It only takes 1 patrol car to break it all up imo. I got pulled over for modified exhaust in my buddies 240sx and there were 4 patrol cars. I wasn't speeding or driving wild or anything. They need to find better things to do as 4 cops was a waste. BTW, I only got a ticket for no cat... 4 Cops???

Anything to make a buck.
They should paint the cars green like money instead of black and white. That'd make more sense.

LOL I agree'
Street racing will never go away as long as people have ego's, and the thirst for power.

Maybe one day it wont be called street racing more like skyracing who knows.

Trying to regulate stupidity, trying to make citizens act like reasonable adults is beyond the province of the people who are hired to protect us.

We already have skyracing: the difference is that there are no cops, and we don't start from a stop.

... although even though they have NO authority, I have had a CHP helicopter yell at me over the radios for flying too low.

I left socal because of this stupid ****. ****ing legislators can't see past the tips of there noses. They can't ****ing understand why everyone has different interests, and they have NO right to take someone's rights to do what they wish to there property and to have freedom of expression. anyone who says you can not do what you want in your life, so long as it doesn't hurt other people, should be shot for being an idiot. And as for those cops...the only good cop is a dead cop. I keep it on the track, I go the speed limit and I moved to Ga because the people incharge of CA are morons!!!

Re: Fox 11 News report on street racing

They're wasting all their time on 8 statewide fatalities in 2007? No wonder I hate the police so much. I know of a fatality that was preventable that they dont give a rats @#$ about, probably because it would require actual mental effort and will not pay off with fines and confiscated vehicles.

Re: Fox 11 News report on street racing

I hate stupid and lazy cops. The once that pull you over for speeding take 20mins to get out of there car and then start arguing that you didn't have your seltbelt on or were "racing" someone or had your shoes off. I have three friends that are cops and even they hate these kind of cops. Bring it JamesC .

Truthfully, I think your crazy to street race in South Cal cause of all the cop crap going on there.

Also the last street racing report I saw about south Cal had four third gens in it and they were not riced out.

Ok which one of you is DoggyB2

Arguing with cemented opinions whether they have merit or not is a worthless enterprise. Enough from me. I've had my say. I'm done.

I just noticed youre from Kansas, maybe things are a little different there. When my car was broken into, they wanted me to pay them to send someone to investigate. In Costa Mesa/Newport Beach/Santa Ana (when they NEED it) the ghetto bird runs 24/7, who pays for their gas?

Stopped me from getting those tickets and I didn't argue, he argued against me. My lines were quite respectful ("No sir, I put on my seat belt when I started the car"). So I guess if you got money to waste on tickets on laws you didn't break then I guess...yes, quite a worthless enterprise indeed.

I've needed their 'assistance' as you call it more times than I can count on my 2 hands. Here's how many times they have been useful: 0

Its up to them to fix that problem, but so far they just dont care.

Re: Fox 11 News report on street racing

I got my one and only DUI about 12 years ago. The cops found almost a whole ounce of some kick-*** chronic in my glove box. Obviously, when I got the car back, the weed was gone, but I never got written up for it. Hmmm... wonder what happened to it?

Also, again around 12 years ago, I used to go to strip clubs and snort coke with a bunch of guys in the LAPD.

They have yet to help us.
Exc for the time they copied a police report for us. Of course we had to pay $10 up front, they would not change a $20 and then the report been blacked out so it had less info on it then we gave them, we gave them all the other parties info. Then told us to leave when we asked what they were doing to find the guy.

But they can follow us around numerous times, and park at the end of the street for over a hour then try and hide their face as the try and sneak out of our dead end street.

Help, they do nothing that does not involve creating income to the agency they work for.

Guess what? Your freedom of expression ends when it infringes on someone else's rights. No one has the right to block off public streets to set up a race. No one has the right to exceed the speed limit without care. One never knows if there's another car about to turn onto your street right in front of you.

And as far as cops go, there are good ones and there are bad ones, just like lawyers, doctors, and politicians. 99% give the other 1% a bad name.

Re: Fox 11 News report on street racing

8 fatalities in 2007 attributed to street racing.......how many deaths due to DUI or cell phone usage while driving. Somehow I see our tax money being squandered here on something that doesn't seem to be all that big of a problem. What are the police and highway patrol doing to enforce the new hands free only cell phone law. It doesn't seem like a whole heck of alot since everytime I'm out I see some where between 5 and 10 people not paying attention and chating on their non hands free phones.

You have more odds of living street racing everyday then you would walking the open planes and getting hit by lightning.

Old people pulling out in front of you when your doing 60mph, or insist on donig 30 in a 50 cause more deaths per year then street racing.

Re: Fox 11 News report on street racing

Although I think street racing is fine if its done in a precautionary way it **** load of fun, I would have to agree with Kevin that the SOB's have no right to close down a public street. The biggest problem to me is the fact that a big percentage of "Street Racers" are idiots and drive like **** and their cars sound like ****. I actually saw a toyota tercel with a modded exhaust driving down my street at no more than 15MPH and it sounded like it was at WOT. IDK I am just sick of the noise around here from those cars it wouldnt be a big deal if they werent all POS. I am not attacking the rice-a-roni all tho I do prefer cars that actually can back up the noise they make. I mean my friend has a 3000gt VR4 that is one of the baddest cars I have ever seen.

Re: Fox 11 News report on street racing

We use to go to an abandoned farmers airstrip, going over about 500 ft of crappy rough, very dry terrain to get to this place. Totaly isolated, and every night after a few hours of racing the man would come and bust it up. We were in the middle of BFE, nothing on public streets, and still getting harassed. There is not a track anywhere near here.

There is really nothing to do either, if your into cars.

Blocking down streets is wrong ill give em that, but shouldnt have to block down any streets, just to race, should be able to pull into the local strip which would provide jobs, and tax money to the area.

A street racing event was set up in the LA river once, one car on each side of the centerline trough, spectators up on the top of the levee. Cops still broke it up.

Yea there are alot of @$$'s here and beggers to, i got asked by the same dude 3 times in 10 mins, was filling up both my cars, and my wifes, i was like you gotta be kidding me, and he gave me 3 different excuses each time lol.

I was racing a guy at school in his honda, and a cop busted a U turn and started to catch up to us as we were slowing on the freeway to about 40ish, we go, instantly im 2 cars on him, look in review and see cop lights, bust the right hand signal and turn off onto mooney, probbaly was doing 70 so i wasnt speeding, he ended up getting a ticket for trying to race, seems american muscle is more cop friendly then ri c ers. They love rice for some reason.

I have when gone through Sac, or San fran toss'ed a handful of changed out my window behind my car because the car behind me was ridding my butt big time, by the time i started moving away, about 20 bums mobbed that car picking up the changed, stopping traffic.

Re: Fox 11 News report on street racing

There's been talk about Brotherhood ever since it closed. I'd say the chances of it reopening somewhere are about as good as you winning the lottery. Twice in a row.

The street racing thing is all about money and publicity. They collect a bunch in fines and impound fees, and get a bunch of uninformed public riled up to support them or think they're doing them a favor. If the police were less focused on their press reports and more on dealing with crimes, they'd be a lot more useful and effective but that doesnt make you want to vote for every spending increase they want so they go the press and public opinion route instead. Driven by greed.

Re: Fox 11 News report on street racing

only 3 times ive ever called the cops, each for a break into my car. in long beach they basically said stop wasting our time. in signal hill and brea they actually came out and took prints off the window. not that it helped but at least they made an effort.

anyway i think it makes a great deal of difference what city. the safer it is the more they will be looking for burglers etc which i think we all would like. but then they will also have more time to get your for speeding dui etc. you might want to street race all you want but then you will go home and find your dog shot and your daughter knocked up.

imho.

Re: Fox 11 News report on street racing

I'm glad they acknowleged brotherhood!

Its rare for a newscast to give both sides at least.

Somebody can make money if they gave these racers a place to go.

(I've heard about but luckily never found the place near alameda. Still trying to keep my record clean...)

Re: Fox 11 News report on street racing

if i was a cop and i saw some street racers, id put up the old crown vic to the line and see what it would do lol. nah actually i think if i was a cop driving by a place that WASNT being bothered (like some place in BFE) and there was no traffic being stopped and was kept under control, id prolly just sit back and watch and make sure that everything goes okay. i wouldnt stop it, just make sure everything went okay.

IMO if your closing down roads or putting other people in danger, it has to be stopped. period. but if your on an old forgotten highway or at a place out in the country or something, then it should be okay. i mean you can wreck your car on the street, but you can also wreck your car at a strip. as long as somebody is pretty much supervising, then it isnt much different than the strip.

People also race about a block away from my work place her in Compton. Next to Santa Fe and Victoria it's pretty much an industrial area with little or no traffic over the weekends. Lately its been taken over as more of a stunt place for bikers though

on a side note saw the video last night(finally) im surprised non1 mentioned how slow a white civiv HB and another car took off the line, quite emberrasing....

A plot of land the size of a drag strip will provide much more jobs and tax revenue to the city if it was a mall instead. Hence the closing of Riverside, Ontario, etc, and turning them into shopping malls. Sad but true.

Yet we have a golf course on practically every corner. Guess why? Golf doesnt require big ***** like racing does. So politicians feel right at home at a golf course.

LOL so ture if i ever became a cop i would so much write 10,000 impeeding the flow of traffic tickets to them......by far the number one thing that makes me mad is people who cant do the speed limit (and people in the left lane put~putting or not passing someone).....around here 55 means 40 to most people, and then they get super mad if you pass them

Thats where Europe is nice, the left lane is for passing only. And trucks stay in the right lane.
Here a 8 lane fwy is 2 lanes for trucks and 2 for cars each way.

Have you priced a round of golf lately. Tustin ranch is ~$200. Im sure the city gets a nice cut.

And who here would pay $200 for 2-3 hrs of racing even if it meant 20 runs.

This is true, but our malls around here are shutting stuff down, so there not making enough to get by. I hate the mall, But will splurge cash on car related fun.

89rs, Bumping ppl should be legal, a$$holes will think twice about turteling with another car/semi ,going well under the posted speed limit, or pulling out in front of you.

I so about tapped this guys *** earlier today, 2 lane free way, im coming in the left lane doing 70 in a 65 and dipshit ***** pulls over into my lane doing 20 when im right on his ***, i got super close to his *** i think he shat himself. If i was in a bad mood, who knows :/

dang 2 truck only lanes (no 4 wheelers allowed in them???) i bet all the truck drivers love them, or are europe truckers not like us....

id love truck only lanes, no offence but most 4 wheelers can not drive worth a darn and most of them are SUV's and mini vans, with Lexus RX XXX model SUVs being by far the worst drivers

i feel the USA need to make "SUV and Minivan" only lanes, eventualy they will all wreck into each other and no longer exist on the road causing problems for everyone
