Re: VFN 2 1/2 cowl
Mikey, the hoods by Unlimited Products tend to warp from heat if you don't re-inforce them before installation. Not a problem if you make up some fiberglass reinforcement and glass them to the hood.

Most of the time your comments are incoherent, senseless, and without worth. I’m not sure if you’re senile or you just get a kick out of the way the keys click when you press them. Please know that as far as I am concerned, you are an absolute wealth of useless information. This isn’t my first rodeo. This is my 4th third gen of which two have had the same Unlimited cowl hood. I know what needs to be done to properly reinforce it. In the meantime if this hood warps, cracks, or breaks in two I will unbolt it, put it in the trash can, and bolt my stock hood right back on without so much as an ounce of regret. I have grown tired of sitting silently and watching you belittle people on this board that you feel aren’t as knowledgeable as you think you are. You my friend are the last person I would ever take advice from when it comes to anything having to do with a third gen. Why? Because you are an IDIOT.
Choose your words carefully Russ…

Trying to make people think that tired 305 is quick, or just eliminating windshield space. Even with that hood they will still get your face on film.
I have a thought, build a front clip reinforcing setup like Jerry did then on the flat plate in the middle put some velcro to help stabilize that hood.

I was planning on getting a flat fiberglass hood from Harwood in the not too distant future just too get a little weight off of the front end. I had cowl induction hoods on the first two cars I had and they were functional and attracted lots of “attention”. But hey, it was the late 80’s, early 90’s and to see a cowl hood on a current production car wasn’t near as common as it is today. So for the time, it was kinda cool.
So I get on the 605 N at Katella (this onramp has one of the most amazing uphill, off camber, chicanes on the planet and must be taken with the throttle completely empty) on Wednesday morning and as I am “safely” making my way over to the fast lane I see this 91/92 RS bearing down on me at a high rate of speed. So I do what any responsible motorist would do. I went deep into the throttle and pulled up right next to him.
Now as I was making my way up to see who was driving I could see the intake on the back side of his cowl hood through his windscreen. When I started to pull away from him I could see the whole front end and the hood lines were clean, nonintrusive, and natural. It looked like the hood belonged on the car and had been there since day one. Now keep in mind it’s a little after 6 o’clock in the morning, the sun is just starting to come up so the ambient light was perfect. It was a burgundy RS with chrome factory wheels, flomaster, and LT1 exhaust tips and given the road manner of the car I’d say possibly an aftermarket spring/shock combination, and a cowl induction hood. If the guy that owns this car is on this board, that is without a doubt the cleanest RS I have ever seen. Nicely done!
I don’t like the “attention” cowl hood generate however this was one of those right place at the right time type for situations. Now as far as making people think that my 350,000 mile 305 is quick goes. We all know it just plain isn’t, but you’ll have to ask all of the TPI, 350, aluminum headed boys why the little 305 TBI always ends up out front when the road starts to curve…

I'm not belittling anybody, Mike. I was aware of a situation of another member who had one of those hoods warp, and was just trying to give you a friendly "heads up" for an easy repair that can be done to keep the problem from occuring to you. I did not know you had previous experience with their parts, or I would have kept quiet about the entire thing as I did when he first offered it on this board. I saw no reason to jump right in and bad mouth the product, they are not bad if properly reinforced. The reinforcement isn't a big deal either. It is just a necessary step to keep the hood from warping.

I remember a short but pointed bit of homage on a certain overlook to a certain 350 verts driver.

As I have said many times before… Chris is one hell of a driver (especially on four different tires) and I am as genuine now as I was then when I originally made the comment. Now, let’s see what the black car can do and I want you to do it topless!

re hood, Yep, Mikey does it in style. what is that about a 6 rattle can job.
The neat thing about the blaque car is the shocks are original. So when under hard cornering it sets right down on the suspension like on a rail.

Re: VFN 2 1/2 cowl
Actually I was able to knock it out with about three and a half cans. Oh and I have to apologize to the owner of the white paper plate 370Z that I got a tad bit of overspray on in the AutoZone parking lot while I was touching up my new hood (I’ll take a couple pics of the new finish when it stops raining). Don’t worry; I left a note informing him that the next time he parked his toilet that close to me there would be a 12’ crease down the driver’s side of his bucket of boy butter. But anyway, I would have used all six cans but I noticed that Caltrans has just installed a virgin sign on the 5/Beach Boulevard overpass that is in desperate need of my attention.

I make it a point never to disclose the particulars of any of the purchases/sales I might be involved in with fellow members here on the board. For one, it’s not cool and two at any given time there are several people selling the exact same thing somewhere on this board. So to put a final number out in public could potentially influence a buyer/seller somewhere else.
Tyler and I came to a number that we both agreed on and the deal was done.

Boys, I will definitely take these amazing suggestions under advisement. I think I’ll be ok for a while with just the hood.
Thank you for the complement.

Re: VFN 2 1/2 cowl
I am looking for a hood for my 82 firebird, but I'm only looking for the cowl that is shaped exactly like the cowl hood on the original knight rider car.
