Kevin Smog Results

Well we failed again. Things got a lil worse this time.

Trying to remember what Don told me. The No is so low, Think Don said that's the combustion chamber temp. It's at 187 15 mph and 25mph 154. Which is showing that fuel is just dumping in there keeping the temps remain low.
He mentioned bringing the timing could help.
My HC went up 209 124 at 15mph and 25mph. It was before 171&100. I need to be 108 15mph an 25mph 83 or lower. So that's showing still unburned fuel.

Then my CO failed this time, before I passed both mph, I need to be under 0.71 IM at 0.46 which is good. I failed the 25mph at 0.60 needed 0.58

So in the fuel tables you see everything Looking Good? Don still suggest to clean these tables up even before the cat's because it's still rich.

So I really don't know what's going on, but we have to really see where we can really lean this motor out and pump some more timing in it.

I'll bring these Smog results this week to show you. I know it doesnt make much sense unless you have results in hand.

Branden, your Fuel pressure is way too high for SVO injectors. It should be around 40~42PSI not in 50's. Ford injectors are rated at a lower PSI than GM.
Good luck

Re: Kevin Smog Results

Yeah Thanks. Im Unsure if Kevin set it at 48psi with lil hose disconnected or not. Will have to lower it down to 42psi max if it's set at 48psi. But as you know that's not going to get me passed yet.

It's gonna need a WideBand look and get it lean, I want Lean I want to hear snack crackle pop crisp clean. I want 40mpg and my 389rwhp and over 440rear wheel torque so when I line up with Vincent it's going to be a run to the finish.

Re: Kevin Smog Results

also you might need to consider to change the injector's constant in eprom to a higher value

Alright well Im not going to walk over anybody shoes now lol. I dont even understand what you meant Ivan? Um all I know is Kevin has something set for 28lb'ers. But yeah we need to get that Value where this motor isnt getting all this unburned fuel. I mean Kevin is a good tuner the car runs great but this smog Crap has us where something is hiding. I don't get it I can make it from here to Bakersfield and use a half a tank and even hit 120 or so and cruise there and run good but these Hydro Carbons are a pita. I know Kevin by now is saying relplace those cats. Don knows they would help but may not be good enough to pass. But the tables gotta get cleaned up so I can replace the cats.
Um maybe the Egr also could be creating some problems. Kevin would have to explain that one again. I for get.

Re: Kevin Smog Results

You can set the fuel pressure anywhere you want as long as you have the fuel tables set for it. We lowered his fuel pressure from 58 psi to 45 psi, and I changed the injector constant from 31 lbs to 28 lbs.
Branden, I am not sure what else to do. Perhaps raise the timing some more, but with your larger cubes and lots of power it will make more emissions. As we talked about, the higher fuel pressure and running rich might have killed the cats.

That is exactly what I told Branden , also the O2 sensor is most likely dead, and I recommend him to check with wide band.

Possible, but I doubt it. Incomplete combustion will cause the HC to be high, the cats are not that old and the car has not been driven that much.
Again, look at the NOX, under 200, that motor has 10.6-1 compression with steel heads. The combustion temperature (if right) should drive the NOX thru the roof.
Just raise the timing and see what happens.

Re: Kevin Smog Results

Ivan the o2 sensor is nearly brand new. I was using an older one because I was using Hi octane, so at first I for got and I smogged and thats why I was way far to hi. So I changed that and the number came way down.

Don is right it's not like the car has been out of the ball park and running rich this whole time. That might have happend after I replaced the fuel pump and the gauge was reading wrong.
I have barely any miles on these cats. But if all else fails, after this timing I dont know what else to look for.
----------
Oh and what ever I ran at Irwindale that means I had a bad o2. So that would surely have things not going the right way.

Re: Kevin Smog Results

Well I guess Ivan and Kevin are correct the timing doesnt lower the Hc from what me and Don found out this morning, we went for a pre test. And it shows that it's the cats failing most likely meaning for sure.
Thanks for everybodys help. Now I just need some extra cash, Im pending a sale on the Dfi so wish me luck.
