Camaro King LA

I found a dealer in Sylmar, California named United Motors and was wondering if anyone out there had experience with this company. The salesman's name (could be the owner) is Robert. He has many 4th Gen Camaros and several 3rd Gen's in stock. I plan on getting an inventory list from him and would like to hear from anyone that has had any dealings with him. I actually found him through E-Bay where he had a 1991 Z28 Convertible advertised a week or so ago. The Z had 83.6K on it and was sold for $8.4K.

Any information would be helpful. Also, if someone knows of a good inspection service in the L.A. area, that would also be appreciated. If I end up buying something from this dealer, it will be sight unseen which will certainly cause some anxious moments BUT, if this works out, I certainly will communicate my experience on this site!

From what I've seen over the years, he's definately got some pretty legit cars, but you really pay for it....

I bought my GTA from him 6 years ago with 85k miles in really excellent shape for about 6K.
I never had any unpleasant surprises but usual maintenance as time went by.
He seemed to know alot about and appreciate fbodies.
At the time I went I remember he had some really nice 4th gens out of my price range, also another GTA but not in very good condition.

I know Robert personally for years. You could not ask for a nicer person. We share a lot of the same customers and I have never heard a bad word about him. In fact, quite the opposite they rave about him. I would say no worries. Good Luck in your search!

Re: Camaro King LA

He gets most of his inventory from dealer auctions. This is okay, but you should still do what you would do when buying from anyone--get the car inspected as best you can, run a carfax, etc. Especially for cars as old as thirdgens--for any two third gens, there is usually a notable disparity in condition. Also, I've found that it usually pays to spend a little more to get a car already in good shape instead of buying a cheaper car and fixing it up. You'll usually spend more if you do that. (Of course, it depends on your plans for the car, e.g., most people don't buy a mint-conditon 1LE to modify the heck out of.)

Good luck.
