1989 RS Camaro Mods
I'm a roockie in the camaro world and I need some tips from camaro experts in California. I just bought my car and it came with a 305 TBI. My biiggest issue is that I have a low budet of $3000 that I can spend to rebuild my camaro. I cant get enough infromation on what is best to rebuild for the money, a 305 or a 350 engine.
These are my goals:
1. Run mid 13's 1/4 mile
2. nitrous ready engine
3. "HAVE MY CAR PASS SMOG"
If any camaro experts in California can help out, your adviced will be appreciated.

A 350 with no juice will run mid 13's while still smog legal. To build a nitrous ready engine, you will need steel crank, forged rods, and forged pistons. $3000.00 is close to the minimum, but you may need more $$ to make it last. Most of the guys running 12s in the club are doing it without nitrous.

What do you recommend that I do instead of juice. What would be the best hook up for my camaro to run high 12's and still make it smog leagal and how much would it cost me?

Convert to TPI, trick flow heads, corvette L98 heads, ZZ9 cam, Lunati cam, LT4 Hot Cam, Comp Cam(all cams ground on 112-113 center lobe), 350-355 short block, Keith Black hypereutectic pistons, your stock 305 crank, 1.6 roller rockers, 3.45 gears, beef up trans and that's all you need.

Car: Moving...
Engine: Running...
Transmission: Shifting...
Don't forget wanting to add money to the rest of the drivetrain and suspension not just the engine, otherwise you could find yourself staring at a car with a great engine but a busted tranny or rear end
