Beat a 95 Z28 only by 8ft in the 1/4mi, should I worry?
My car is an 88 iroc and has this mods:
SLP runners
Edelbrock base
AFPR
1 5/8 shorty headers
flowmaster muffler
3.41 rear end ratio W/ limited slip (originally 2.77)
msd distributor & coil
Moroso 8 mm wires
The next thing that I want to change is the crank pulley and to custom burn a chip for the combo I have. D o you guys think that a custom chip will give me a good improovement.
I don't know if I should worry or be happy because the 95 Z28 (lt1 w/ 6 speed ) was completely stock and it still gave me a hard time.
What other mods would you recomend without changing cam, heads or motor?

I'd say if you beat an LT1 with a stock L98, then you should be pretty damned happy. Those cars flat get it done, altough not like the LS1's.

I just want to get the most out of the stock longblock, I'm thinking in a new motor but not until probably next year, I dont want to swap in a new cam because I'm afraid the stock block, which has 140 somethig Kmi, wont resist it.

Did you do this at the track or on the street? If on the street, anything could have happened ... and worry about what? Losing to another one, it will be likely without mods. If at the track, post up the numbers so we can see if he was catching up, or you were leaving him behind.

It wasn't done at the track, so, I don't have any numbers. I wouln't be a bad idea to take the car to the track to see what time my car does.
We were prety close all the time, my car started passing him since the first 20ft, and keept in front by a car and a half I would say, but, when I was on third, and I gess he shifted to fourth, he started to catch up, but very very slowly, and he did'nt only cause he was too far behind, and we got to the finish line.
I think that his car might have more power or might be lighter than mine, but I think that my advantage was that my car hooked up well at the start.
The only think that I'm a little disapointed about is, that with all the mods that I have, I can only pretty much equal or beat by very little the STOCK 95 z28.

Did you keep the 9-bolt and upgrade it, or did you swap to a 10-bolt? I ask because I havent heard of any 3.41 gears for our stock rear ends. Its either 3.42 for a 10-bolt and 3.45 for a 9-bolt.
Your intake, runners, and headers help, but with the stock heads and cam your car is about equal to an LT1. So its not a surprise that you were about even with him.
Just let me know when you're ready for that custom chip, and my dad, Dyno Don, and I will set you up.

I replaced it with a 10 bolt, and it must be a 3.42 like you say.
Last taime I talked to you on the phone, I was having a problem with the car, but, I fixed it, It was the pick up coil inside the distributor.
I think that the only thing that I need is to buy the replacement chip for you to burn it for me right? Where can I get it?
I'll let you know as soon as I'm ready.
Thanks a lot Kevin.
