Wow, I think you guys are a little harsh. I'd sell my car for $6000 as is or $4000 if I put it back with a 350 and 5-speed.

Actually, I won't sale mine if someone rubbed $10,000 in my face. (Its even a V6) I would end up buying another one and have to spend more than that to get it modified back to the way I have mine now. But sadly, you can't sell a car for beans and get back what you put into it- Never plan on selling a car that you spend money to modify.

$1000 for a good paint job? Damn someone should tell every shop but Maaco that. Call any reputable shop and you will easily be $3.5k+ for same color no body work. $5k+ for color change and minor body work.


I am right now paying a little over $4k for a complete strip down to bare metal, some minor body work and some custom things like shaved key holes, etc... But I am also getting chroma premier. So if you know someone that can give me all that and a guarantee for anywhere near $1k, heck half of what I am paying I will be all over it AND give you a finders fee!

As to selling prices of Camaro's. True you may be able to get more from the guys on this board that know what's in your car, but not if you put it in the auto trader. To get the price you want you would be waiting a very long time. I also agree with the comment that I wouldn't sell my car. I had an opportunity to sell it for a couple of grand. Instead I am putting thousands of dollars into it. It's a sickness I know

Now James Calm down. Were talking a nice affordable stock look car, not a show car. Im not giving the guy a hard time about what he is asking for his car, I believe a descent paint job is going to cost more than 400 dollars though. And of course someone may get lucky and get a 400 paint job and be fairly descent looking also.
