changing starter without a jack?

So my starter just died here at school, and I'm without a jack or jackstands but I do have my tools. I managed to fit underneath the car and jump the solenoid with a wire to test the starter--just got some sparks and the fuel pump priming.

Think I can change my starter without a jack? I can't really afford to have it towed somewhere.

I could go buy a jack and jackstands, but I don't think the place I live would like me marring up their parking lot or even working on my car out there I guess I'm kind of venting more than asking for advice.. I'm so pissed off.. argh.

Drive the right side tires up onto a curb. I hope you are skinny. Or just park it in the dirt and start digging a nice trench.

Stick shift or auto? With stick shift you can get someone to push it, pop the clutch and get it started. Drive to where you want to do the work. Drive up the curb like Lon suggested, or make ramps from boards and drive up. With an auto, you're sol.

Auto Can't drive it up a curb without starting it, and it's parked in a hole almost.. so I can't really move it :\ I'm thinking about getting a jack and jacking it up just enough so I can have an easier time but not enough to tell it's jacked up. All paved! No boards. If my car was at home I'd have had the starter out 10 times by now... argh

Unfortunately it's got to sit for a few weeks before I have time to touch it.

Well, make sure to use a stand or something else to hold the car up with the jack under there. No sense becoming a statistic.

I feel like becoming one about now..this month has been terrible. I would at least pick up some cheap jackstands if I got a jack. Thanks.
