89 t/a starter issue
Well the problem im having is that the starter i put in about 4 months ago just stopped working all of a sudden and so did my torque converter on my 700r4. I put a new torque converter in but for some reason when i put the starter back in the teeth inside of it are about 4 centimeters in front of the teeth on the flywheel. Checker said the starter is good and I watched them bench test it 4 times so I agree. But the teeth in the starter are worn on the corners from where it wasn't lined up properly before. I'm not sure if the starter is the wrong one and it's too short or what. Cause gapping it is just going to move it even farther away from the flywheel. Any help would be amazing. It's the last issue I have before I can get it running again.

Did you change the flywheel if so there are 2 differint ones for sbc a 153 and a 168 teeth so you need to match you starter to your flywheel.

Re: 89 t/a starter issue
problem resolved. i forgot that the starter gear moves when engaged and when i bumped the ignition it turned over fine. plus my battery didnt have enough juice in it at first. thank you for your input though.

hahahaha your car is satan in firebird form.... nuff said.
I went over there today, helped him bend a new tranny line due to a mis diagnosis from a few friends....apparently they dont know how to determine if a set of threads is bad or not.. long story short we bent a new tranny line, turned out well considering neither of us have ever done it haha, the actual threads on the tranny where the line hooks into were mashed up, so we went through all the trouble of bending a new line for nothing lol pulled the fitting out of the trann and cleaned up the threads and viola! it worked, his exhaust manifold bolt snapped on the DS, so it sounds comparable to a speed boat engine lol im taking my manifolds off and swapping my headers on FINALLY, giving him my old manifolds, illl be running w/o a catback til i can afford a new set of flanges for the cat to I-pipe but atleast the devil car is up and running again
now wipe that crap off the windows chris lol
