It dosent, but the factory "Carpet" in the trunk is really thin and cheesy. Not at all what I expected from a car in that price range.

Don't most new cars feel not so nice inside even when they're the deluxe model? You have to go to a true luxury brand for that. Remember, Cadillac is just Chevy with thicker leather. :P

Re: Cutting the body to get to the fuel pump

actually ive got it down to about a 45min to an hour job, its easy i just dont see why people complain so much, this has just become a TPI/TBI battle its gotten pretty stale.

SFCs would be a big help but how many people think about that? and im definitely not against SFC's, our cars have the worst flex because theyre like a mile long, "factory oversight"

Do what you want im not getting into this again im not bashing anyone for it but im not gonna applaud them for doing it either. Im Switzerland from now on. Both sides have good points and both have some shortcomings on the procedure so im neutral.

When my fuel pumps goes out, you bet I'm cutting a hole to make the job easier. 30 minutes vs 6 hours?? I value my time, and no one will see that damn hole anyway. Just recover and reinforce like that guy in the 4th gen did and all is good.

Adding an access dor to change the fuel pump is a good mod. I've done this on my '87 IROC and used it three times in the past. I was convinced to add the access panel when the fuel pump went out on my '92 Z28 while cruising through Death Valley on vacation. I had the pump replaced in Las Vegas, I believe it cost about $1100 and two days time. Great vacation, huh? Best thing about the access mod is I can change the fuel pump on the side of the road using common hand tools in less than 30 minutes and not get dirty. If you want to improve your car, this is a great add-on.

Re: Cutting the body to get to the fuel pump

Not going to say much on this thread any more because I know where I stand. Just remind me not to buy the car from someone who did the mod because they think it was a factory oversight. Or "to make it easier for the next time". There is a right way and a wrong way of doing things. There is also a *******, backyard wanna-be mechanic way to do things too. If afraid to touch a wrench to do the job the way it was intended, then let me show you how to do the job in less time than you think. Like Masterdisaster said, takes about 45 minutes to an hour to do this. Cutting the hole takes longer to start with.

Yeah, it was an SS model (Bumblebee look-alike) with beautiful black leather interior.... The trunk "Carpet" looked like it was made out of recycled jute padding.
