So I've had my 88 Convertible IROC Z28 for about a year now. It was the 305 and its automatic. I had the engine rebuilt and it is mechanically sound. I really enjoy driving the car but I need serious help on the top. The frame looks like it has been welded in the past and the top tends to rest on my head (looks like its missing a bracket to keep the top tight). I want to reupolster the top since its missing the window but don't want to spend the money if its not gonna sit right. So I need some help fixing it. I heard there are more than one different tops for the F-bodys, is this true? It would greatly be appreciated if you guys can help me out with it cause I really don't feel like getting rid of it! Thanks!!!

You might try : www.top-downsolutions.com they have lots of stuff for verts. I do know that unless you are 6'6" or so, the top shouldnt hit your head!
You might want to pm beater79ta. He has a vert (In fact, he's the only one I know personally that owns a thirdgen vert!) I know he had a top recently installed on his. I dont think any work was done on the frame, but he may be able to point you in the right direction.

SEAN!!!! Wondered what happened to you! Is your # the same? Tried to call you....

Can you post pictures of the inside and outside of the top when it's up? It sounds like you either have a bow missing (hard fix) or the headliner is loose (much easier fix). If it's the headliner, it can be removed or fixed by an upholstery shop.

You probably want to do some searches in the convertibles section to get answers to the details around parts and repairs for the frames.

I got lucky and acquired a pristine low mileage car from a retiree so the only mechanical issue I've had is replacing the valve stem seals to get rid of that puff of smoke at startup.
