So I was on a mission today, to hit up some of the pic-a-parts around here from the Tucson shops thread, and I came to a very sad conclusion. According to the guy at AA Transmissions (formerly AA Transmissions and Pull-Ur-Part) that the only pic-a-part is the one on Camino De La Terra (Arizona U-Pull & Save Auto Part). I've got numbers for the rest of them, and I think I'm gonna call each place on the list that was posted to see if they still do the u-pull. I will post my results here.

Comments: Good prices, 30 day warranty on everything. Overall pleasant experience. Not a pick-a-part though, which sucks, as it's hard to ask for obscure interior pieces at a counter, and they have a $45 minimum pulled order.

Well, since my accident I've gotten a bit more active on the yard hunt.

Valid yard, but not much of anything to be had. There were all of five F-bodies there, two 'birds, two 'maros, and a second gen. All of which offering minimal parts. Some glass. An allright fender. Most of the cars look like wrecks from fatal accidents. Whole front ends of the cars bent up to the windshield. Some horrible stuff. There was also a super condition Mazda RX7, good paint, good engine bay, good interior. Was missing a lot of front suspension parts, but there was no real reason that car should have been there.

Tomorrow I plan on checking out some more yards in the hunt for a fender, rare interior parts, and a 96+ Truck/Van/SUV alternator.

Oh. And if anyone local to Tucson has an 88 350 that's stock under the hood, I'd love to check out your serp. setup. I wanna make mine identical.

Synapsis

I have a second serpentine setup I'll let go for $150. It has a squeaky idler, but comes with a PS pump, alternator (cracked case but still works), and I think AIR pump. It's been sitting in the garage awhile.

When you spin the idler, it's squeaky. I dunno if you could pop the protectors off the bearings and grease them or not.

So it doesn't come with the reverse rotation water pump, the water pump pulley, A/C compressor, any of the AC lines, the two fuel lines I'd need, or a lot of other stuff? I'm really interested, as I'd rather just serpentine this pig and put the CS144 on there that I have, rather than rebuild the 130.

Make sure you get the steel brackets, there's five or six of them. If not installed, the aluminum will eventually crack where the AC mounts and the ALT mount will crack too. I sent you a PDF of all the parts, part numbers, etc, etc, from when I did the serp conversion on my '87. Most likely you'll have to buy a new compressor anyway, since most 15-year-old AC units that have been sitting around in the garage have dried-out seals and will leak when pressurized. If you don't want to spend the bucks right now, install the AC delete pully. The stock fuel lines running along the frame can be bent with a hand-held tubing bender to angle upward, but you'll probably have to buy new lines up to your carb or fuel rail. Yeah, I know all this stuff is a hassle, but it only has to be done once, and then you're free of the V-belt nightmares... BTW, are you sure the CS144 will fit in the serp mounting? It's one big unit!

Well, everyone I've seen does it with a serp setup. And I've heard you can do it with a v-belt with a pulley change. But because of the location of some of the A/C parts on the Serp/Vbelt 87, I can't fit the mammoth of a case there. But word is that when the alt is switched to the driver's side, it all goes together fine.
