Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
I'll be there. Sounds like 3 or 4 of us will be there. Rubber, don't forget the camera. My wife and her nephew dropped mine while falling in mud up at Yellowstone National Park.

The air cleaner is a joke lol, but you gotta love my shitty excuse for a trans cooler in the grille.
I still have to wire it in which I'm hoping to get most of done after work today, as well as putting in the drive shaft and torque arm. I might just go for gold tonight and work on it late since I won't be able to tomorrow, I have to stay late at work.
Still needs fuel lines run as well as finishing the hoses for my trans cooler, I need to buy new water pump pulley bolts, as well as the bolts for it to go to the motor. I gotta install the headers, plugs, plug wires, coolant temp sensor, oil pressure sender and buy a couple brass plugs. I'm hoping to start it Saturday around noon but we'll see.
This has been an insane project to take on by myself, but it's almost over.

It doesn't help I'm starting to become sick now too. As Willie will tell you, my level of frustration with this project right now is high enough I've considered selling the whole thing off and just starting over with a nice V8 car.
I considered not going and using the late hours I'd be there to work on the car, but I gotta bring Willie this V6 and trans and you guys are counting on me to bring out my camera so I'll be there, if there are no surprises and my parents need the truck.
But, on a bright side, Willie found a pair of T3 turbos for $125 in Deltona I considered.
Additionally I've been looking at a 07 Subaru Forester 2.5XT as a daily. Can't beat a Forester with a WRX motor.

Its looking like it won't be done by then. I've been doing this by myself, progress has been slow. Apparently nobody has water pump pulley bolts, and the bolts I bought for the motor mounts from Ace don't seem to have a nut that fits them. I still need to sort out the wiring, put the headers on, put the new plugs and plug wires on, finish the hoses for the trans cooler, run the fuel lines, put the accessories back on, put the cooling system together, change the oil, add trans fluid, put the torque arm back on that somehow won't fit any longer, remove the old cat back, and probably a whole bunch more I'm missing.

I unfortunately won't be able to bring my Camaro out since I still haven't welded in the new floorpans because of school and lack of money.
I will have my fun little Suzuki Sx4 though. I imagine that Subaru would be pretty fun too if you got it to DD.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
Ah, sorry to hear the problems you've run into so far on this swap. I think you'd get more satisfaction by completing this swap though than just selling it and buying another v8 car. Would you put the pair of turbos on the 327 if you finish this swap?

Yeah, I'd get the Subie to DD, 300AWHP in a wagon will be entertaining.

Don't worry man, when this swap is behind you you will probably feel differently. I know you will like the power difference going from the 3.4 to the 327, then again once its converted to fuel injection. Youll love it.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
Thinking about it now, you may not want the t3s depending on the specs for them. Most t3s run out of steam up top cause they will choke. A pair of hybrids would probably work well, or a large single appropriately sized.

I'm just tired of working on it. I just want to drive. This car has never ran more than 2 months at a time without having some kind of issue and I'm just tired of it. I never get the opportunity to upgrade it or make it better, its always making sure it runs the next day.

Yeah, the ITB intake alone is somewhere north of 2,000, not including the money to have a single plane crank made, the valvetrain to handle 8-9K RPM lol. I'd have to look into what Ferrari is doing with its turbo cars.

I think this would be less stressful if I had another set of wheels to get around with. I knew I should have bought a motorcycle years ago.
What's that Mudvayne song, goes something like: All work and no play makes me a dull boy.

If it rains too bad we can always move down to the 1st story to transfer the motor. Just hope we dont get kicked out for doing it, lol

I haven't even thought of getting up and touching the car. If I could explain the frustration that I'm this sick over the course of one day I'd get banned.

Lol, I'm hoping to feel well enough by 4:00 to make the drive. I'm posting from my laptop in bed because I feel like such ****.

Lol, anyone wanna buy an advance auto parts card with 49.71 on it for 40 bucks? Got the receipt with the balance on it. I returned a shitty broke waterpump and lost the receipt so they gave me a card instead of cash, and I need to pay for this seat cover, lol.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
Well, I just got home. Head on crash shut down I4 Eastbound. There were cars for miles, they diverted traffic to Exit 44, so I took 557A to 557, then got back on I4 after where the wreck was.

Even then if you cut something you need we can get you sorted out.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
Its carbd, so just cut everything but what you need for it cause its not going to matter when you swap to the ms. New harness then so what you do with it now doesnt really matter except for lights, wipers, etc...

Yeah, I'm gonna cut enough length so if I screw up I can fix it. I plan to put the MS3 where the stock ECM was anyway, so I'll cut the body connector and feed the wire through there. When we do put EFI on this car again I'd like to go with longer wire to tuck as much of it as I can. I might even gut the engine bay to give it a good paint job.
