Might be easier to swap in another column? I'm right around the corner if you ever need a hand with something.

I have a steering wheel puller and have done the job a few times, I don't mind helping out one weekend.

What's the casting number on those? I don't mind rebuilding them, I just need something that won't kill my plugs after 200 miles.

Yeah, same here. We can always do another weekend repair meet.

Well, I'm pulling my heads off this weekend. I'm over it now. Didn't even make it to 100 miles before these plugs got fouled. Are all SBC valve seals the same?

At this point, it doesn't matter, I'd just like to know what they are. I'll take the heads though, will be easier to assemble them off car then install. I'm gonna be getting a mild LT1 from my friend over Christmas break.

They are the 193 swirl port heads. That lt1 from the 944?

Yeah, I'm considering taking it apart to build a 383 out of it.

I'm kinda just in preservation mode for this engine, I want to drive my car till I can get a good engine in it.

Was gonna say I have a awesome valve tool to replace the seals while it's on the engine.

On a lighter note, just got back from Tampa. Picked up a full magnaflow catback setup. Looking forward to getting the new headers and everything on.

Bring it by Saturday, I'll help out.

Since I'm maybe a month or so away from putting a new motor in my car I'm kinda tempted to just put another set of plugs in it, or clean up what's in it. But unless my spare parts sell, I don't have money for that lol.

Most likely gonna use the lift at my brother's shop again since it makes it a breeze. Hopefully I can get the rear section up since it's cut right as it goes into the muffler over the axle. You can order plugs online from advance auto and pickup in store. Cool thing about it is, they have all kinds of percent off depending on total amount. I got a brand new distributor and 8 plugs for $75 bucks. Distributor alone was normally $109

My weekends are usually free. I don't know much about the column but I'll be glad to lend a hand with whatever. And I have a 87 factory service manual.

That's pretty sweet. I considered parking it until I put the LT1 in it.

Looking into efi tuning. Megasquirt doesn't look bad but don't feel like getting into all the wiring and harness for this that etc. Apparently you can tune real time with the ostrich 2.0 and a few other things. And appears to be cheaper. Stock harness and ecm stays in place, this is like a add-on.

Either that or throw a carb on it.

IIRC Megasquirt makes and adapter for our harness into their ECM.

By the time I did all that I could have a nice carb setup. And that'd elimate my engine harness completely. Plus you guys seem to be fairly knowledgeable with tuning and what not

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

WELL.
It's been a little bit, but I'm still here.
Computer issues keep me from getting on here too often. Looks like I missed some fun thanksgiving weekend, but I had to work anyway.
Last week was a bit fun, the wire with the fusible link went bad, and I had no power in the car, luckily, it was at home. The wire had a hole in the insulation, and it was corroded together, until it finally broke. Other than that, no new news, or parts, just been driving it on the weekends, since I am driving the work truck.
I'll try to be on a bit more often to catch up on when there will be a meet. I should be quitting my weekend job soon, so that will open up some time.

If you go carb, do the wiring correctly, don't half *** it like I did. I'm gonna have to sort though that nightmare now to get a EFI engine, A/C, heat, and everything else working again.

Definitely gonna do it right. I plan on keeping all that. I know Joe still has all that so gonna ask him how he kept the AC. I know now, my car kicks up the idle automatically when the AC comes on. I'd like the fuel pump to turn on when the key is on instead of a switch. Certainly planning ahead if I go that way.

Looks like I'll probably going with the EBL flash instead. Almost plug and play, tune on the fly. I bounced the idea back and forth with carb but I already have a nice setup. If I can't get it running right with the EBL and a wideband o2 then it might be like a intake gasket or something. Plus the EBL. Will eliminate the MAF sensor and use Speed density instead. I know now my throttle body gasket is leaking for sure.

Got the headers in and the Y. Gonna go to the exhaust shop tomorrow to get the magnaflow muffler put in. I've been having some rear suspension issues, vibration at higher speeds, shocks bottoming out, etc. Turns out the nuts on my adjustable torque arm came loose and tilted the rear end way up. Got that fixed. Also got stuck on the drive-on lift at my brothers shop, spent about 20 minutes trying to get the car off.

GOod to see you got the exhaust on! That loose nut is probably the source of your wheel hop. I know the feeling of getting stuck on lifts, You can't just put my car on a lift, you gotta jack it up first.

Wheel hop isn't as bad anymore. I just turned the nut by sight, according to spohn it's supposed to be at a certain angle, I'll get to that eventually. Finally got the rest of the exhaust put up with the cutout and the wideband o2. I'm definitely in need of a tune. I got the EBL flash coming tomorrow and hopefully get this thing running right.

Nope, they'll bolt up to the LT1 no problem. I'm considering tearing it down to build it into a 383 before it goes in.

Do the 383 . Better to have it all fresh with more power before it goes in so that you're not dealing with issues like your 327 had

The nice thing about this LT1 is it's already been rebuilt, has headwork and has all new ignition. I'm getting a complete motor too, accessories, harness, ECM. I've seen it run in person as well. So I know this one is a good one.

Sorry to hear that man. Important thing is you're alright. These cars can be a PITA to maintain especially for daily drivers.

I was gonna text you today about it too. I'm gonna be out in the 4Runner since Will is putting exhaust on for me. Unless something happens with the shipping of my muffler.

I'm probably gonna head over around 10:30-11 on Saturday if you want to caravan out.

Will try and make it in my truck. Car died on me yesterday right in the middle of the road right as traffic was headed my way. Luckily they had enough braking room to stop. Started up after a few tries. Running rough though.

I spoke to Will about your issue. It's probably your ICM you'll want to get the ICM tested multiple times. I'd give you an old one, but I gave all of my V6 stuff to will lol.

Had this same issue with a brand new distributor. Would just randomly shut the engine off. Few times it started but the last time it happened it wouldn't start back up again. Swapped the ICM out and been fine ever since.

Do you have the filter insert that bolts into the block? I need to ditch this canister filter in a bad way.

Contacting a guy about a 02 SS rear with 4.10s. Hoping it's disc and it's posi. I've already given Will dibs on my posi rear if he wants it. But if he doesn't it'll be up for sale if I get this other rear.
