I'd go new. The tanks in the cars at UPAP are probably gonna be the same.

I forgot they also put holes in them. I got a used complete one with sending unit for $40 few years ago. When I recently had it down for the new pump it was spotless inside.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

Nice, well i took the carb off again with more patience and time and inspected every nook and cranny. It was still clean from cleaning it the last time. I believe i found the culprit of the problem. It looked like a white piece of plastic inside passenger side Seat of the carb...after removing it and driving the car afterwards it drove good. Drove it tonight still good. The real test would be the drive to work in the morning. It does idle funny from time to time. But i think its due to the plugs getting drenched in fuel the last 2 days. So new plugs coming soon, and btw the misfire gone...the coil and icm fixed it. New tank coming soon. Maybe before new years since funds are tight. Ill update tomorrow whether it drove like a charm (fingers crossed) or if it crashed and burned.

Hopefully that was it. Always good to hear about these things possibly getting resolved. They can be a real PITA.
I have a guy that I sometimes deal with Thirdgen parts down in Miami. Here's who I got my tank from. I'll ask him about one if you're interested.

I'm happy to report, car is running still and issue hasnt occured again. Only thing it continues to do is vapor lock which i believe its the airtex mech pump. So hopefully soon thatwill get swappedout or an electric going in.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

I'm happy to report after getting new injectors in and cycling the fuel pump about 5 times, it fired right up. My idle is nice and smooth and throttle response is great. I also used to have a bouncing fuel pressure needle, it's now rock steady. Also used to drop fuel pressure after car was turned off. I still have a popping from the exhaust but it has been reduced to here and there where before it was pretty often.

If it makes you feel any better, I almost spent $2,000 on a V12 for my Mercedes a month ago. Glad I decided not to.

Well my wife and I have so many getaways and vacations planned for the next year plus remodeling our house...no money to dump into the car. It will give me time to research and plan what I want to do with the swap.

One vacation is the F-Body Gathering in Atlanta. It is #20 so I imagine it will be bigger and better than any other year. Who wants to go?

I'm down if my car can make it. Hopefully by next year it'll be in top shape.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

Spoke too soon on my issues, shortly after the injectors it was back to its old self.

It was running so bad today, the only thing that smoothed it out was unplugging the EST connector for advance timing, it wouldn't even idle right. I was so frustrated I considered selling it but couldn't bring myself to do it, came to far with this thing. Funny thing is, this problem has been even with the old engine.

I'm seriously considering going to a carb setup or replacing my engine harness/ECM and going speed density.

Go with a Megasquirt and build your harness. $20 says it fixes your issue.

I got a set of Scorpion 1.5 RRs for free. With lifters and pushrods.

We need another meat.

Anybody have a bare 350 4 bolt block for sale or know of one? I'm wanting to start putting an engine together.

I think ii mm just gonna go carb. I've been having some other electrical issues and wanna eliminate it all together. Thought about selling or parting out and going 4th gen but if I do it'll be down the road. looked into the aftermarket ecus and such but tieing everything together would be a headache in the long run.

I agree on another meet.

4th gen? Never go 4th gen, they're just catfish on wheels.
Unless you wanna stick 4th gen guts in your car, which is perfectly fine.
As far as a meet, I'm working 2 jobs at the moment, so my time is a bit limited, but it doesn't mean I don't want to.

My t/a still isn't done yet. But I would love to do a meet once is it. It would be cool to put names to faces. I work full time but my schedule is somewhat flexible. I second the 4th gen camaro thing. However I love the look of the 4th gen t/a's with the ram hood that look amazing.

I've got a carb intake. If your HSR wasn't Vortec I'd be interested.

I'd LS swap your car before I'd get a 4th gen. I promise you they aren't any better than a 3rd aside from a LS1.

Lol I ment besides junkyards I was going to go check out lkq sometime in the near future. I'd really like to get a hold of some corvette c6 or c7 seats. But they are up there in price almost touching 1500 a pair. The sumter swap meet is coming up soon, I believe this sunday. So I'm going to check out there as well.

Might be picking up a LT1 soon. My buddy has it in a 944 he's looking to get rid of. Complete standalone setup, would pretty much be a drop in and go in my car.

Would anybody be interested in a engine hoist w/ leveler and engine stand? Don't foresee me using these in the near future.

Pretty good for the most part. Still vapor locks and down to 8 mpg. Just needs some maintenance done.

Whatever the cheapest 275/40/17 is. I'm not spending a bunch of tires for wheels I'm not planning on keeping.
