Right? I wish my wipers worked correctly and my roof didn't leak lol.

Sounds like my car! No need to go to Disney or anything when I have a water park in my car.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

every time i see a 5-speed donor car for sale cheap, i never have the cash. damn curse!

no way i can get my camaro out of here. i live on dirt roads and getting the truck out of here is tricky. my t-tops leak too, just a little bit. when i pulled my carpet i drilled a couple 1/8" weep holes to let water out.

oh, and my tranns leaks too. i know its the dipstick though. the o-ring didnt seat in right.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

Finally found a nice vortec 350. Used a borescope before getting it to look into the intake valley and a few cylinder walls. Still has the crosshatching after 120k. Heads and intake valley were spotless. I plan on putting some heads on I got from a buddy, they had less than 1000 miles but sat uncovered in storage and got some surface rust on them. I think him blowing a head gasket also contributed to it. Anyway can I clean these without wasting money at a shop?

So here's what it looks like with the floorboards painted with black bedliner.

I still gotta put the drain plugs back in, and do some other tidy up stuff, but I think it looks miles better than rust stained carpet.

Looking good. Nice to know that your floors won't get rusty from any water getting in. I need to put something like bedliner on the bottom of my car. I found some surface rust on the welds because I did a shitty job at painting to prevent it.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

I did have some surface rust from the heater core blowing up on the PO. But nothing major. Spent the last few days sanding, and sanding and painting and sanding. But, it is waterproof, and hopefully will keep back the rust. If not, I can do it again. I think eventually I'll do the whole interior, but that will take 3-4 more cans, and removing seats, blah blah blah.

looks good from here. i just used some cheap black spray paint, then put some black floor mats in there. probably look nicer if you pull the seats and do it all?

finally changed my front coil springs. it was going good, then,...let me cut another 1/2 a coil,...Ooops, too much. it looks stupid low in the front now. kinda mad about it.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

So this is as far as I am going with the interior for now. I had some Duplicolor vinyl spray stuff sitting around, and on my mission to get rid of the beige interior, I went to town on the door panels. I could probably use another can, I ended up using two to do both, and there is still a little inconsistency. But, it is a start. I also (finally) installed the other Blazer seat in the passenger side so that 1-I could get rid of the last nasty old camaro seat and 2-I was afraid the rat in the garage would get a hold of it. Now I have the seat covers off, to show the clean seats. I know, I know, the driver's side says "Blazer" on it, and they are grey with red trim, but they are 90% stain free, and feel a million times more comfortable.

looks good from here!
i've been slowly stealing odds & ends off the parts car here. black arm rests, window sweeps, plastics, screws, etc. nothing real exciting. fixed my trans fluid leak finally, lol. since i cut my trick springs a bit too short, i cut up some old motorcycle fork springs & made my own helper/coil over struts, lmao, but it worked. i'll have to get pics. it looks clean & the front end moves up nice. still in need of tires badly.

All you guys working on your cars, I drove mine for the first time in a week and a half today lol. I sold my IROCs to Will, and I need wheels ASAP. If somebody has C4 Vette wheels or GTA wheels for the low I'll take them.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

i remember when i had a 78 camaro as my only daily driver. went to work in it, raced every sunday, had no back seats so i could fit all 4 kids in it, got groceries, etc. a true street car. pulled many all-nighters to get to work the next day.

anybody got any cheap 15" wheels? i need 2 for the rear as im switching from 16's. i dont care what shape theyre in, or if for a bird.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

If your boiling the fuel, do you know where its getting hot at?

are you running steel lines or hose? route all your lines away from heat sources. or wrap them.

or a spacer at the carb if it getting hot there.

what is your fuel pressure set at? if I remember right, edelbrock carbs only like 5.5 lbs.

are you running a return line to the tank?

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

Running between 5-5.5 psi. Yes it has the original return line. Most of the lines are steel with some rubber here and there. Last I checked the carb is getting very hot and if you feel the lines they hot to the touch. Also when I remove the gas cap it does that pshh sound. I had cleaned the vent valve a while back.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

id go with the cheap and easy route first. wrap the steel lines or move them to keep them from heat soaking.

what manifold are you using?--enough room for a spacer?
Is the muffler under the tank? is the heat shield still there?
how hot is the tank getting?

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

The manifold is stock all it has is the spacer to convert from Quadrajet manifold to Edelbrock carb. But the hood is raised a couple inches in the back so i should have room. Was also thinking maybe one of those thermal gaskets from Jegs.com or Summit. Original exhaust system rusted and fell. I have a glasspack where the cat would be and nothing else.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

insulate the fuel line first, before you spend the dough. if it works then you can get the good stuff.

heres a little food for thought

IDK if you should be getting the "psssh" sound when taking the gas cap loose? i run a carb and vented cap.

i cut up some soda cans, flatten them out into sheets, then wrap them around the steel fuel lines and gently tighten with a hose clamp as heat shields.
the plastic wire covering can help too if its not too close to heat.
doubling up on the mechanical fuel pump gasket might help too?
next time your intake is off, use heat cross-over block offs.
a phenolic or wood carb spacer will help.
i've never tried the clothes pins but people swear it works.

My car apparently had vapor lock issues when it was produced because there was a recall to fix it. Dealerships put low psi electric pumps in the tank as well as leaving the mechanical pump on the block and it apparently fixed the issue.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

Thanks! The cover is just the stock vortec 350 cover. Plastic and has some nice features but some say it's leaky. Guess I'll find out. I was gonna sell the vortec heads and use some crappy heads but figured it'd be best to hold on to the heads and go with the stealth ram. I got super lucky on the intake so grabbed it quick and had the heads completely rebuilt. I started it up on the stand today. She's ready.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

Heres a thought. Would thermal tape or header wrap work to insulate the lines? I might have some laying around.

Btw. I love the stance of that Camaro. Probably a bit tooo low for my driving lol, but looks great!

It's super low, I have maybe 1/4" from the bottom of the air dam to the ground, same with the exhaust. I hit road reflectors all the time. I'm gonna go lower but I need different wheels/tires and I have to roll the fenders. But that's after I repair my motor.

Header wrap might work, I haven't experience fuel boiling since I went to braided lines, but that gets expensive.

I got super lucky on the intake so grabbed it quick and had the heads completely rebuilt. I started it up on the stand today. She's ready.
I'd be interested in the TPI intake and stuff if you are planning on selling it.

Oh cool, I always wanted to see how those would look on a low thirdgen.

I also wasn't serious about the s10 wheels, no one wants them

Lol, I would have taken them if they had tires. I have to find a used set of 40 series 17s for these wheels.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

Heres two pics of my problem lol.

I think they are a bit to close to the manifold, I wonder if this is the culprit (PO put them there)

And this is how my filter looks after 20 mins of driving....no fuel what so ever....that filter is not even a month old either...

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

do you have the fuel pump in the tank still? if so, pick one. mechanical or electric and remove the other

those lines really aren't that close.

imho, if it was me. Id drop the tank, clean it out. put a new electric pump in, and yank the mechanical. and put the stock style fuel filter back in.
