Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
On to something completely different.
For a second, anyway.
So last year, after I put in the 3.4, I tried to use the a/c 3 or 4 times, and it screeched, and stalled the car.
Yesterday, I was bored after putting in the gasket for the EGR block off, and decided to mess around.
I plugged the compressor back in (had it unplugged, in case I bumped the switch, didn't want unexpected stalls) and hopped in the car. Fired it up, turned on my radiator fan, revved to 2 grand, and hit the a/c. After 2 seconds of screeching, suddenly the noise stopped, and mysterious cool air came out of the vents.
Thus, the 3rd greatest day in my automotive history.
The first two being the engine and trans swaps.
So at least now, whenever we get to hang out, I (hopefully) won't be a big, sweaty mess.

Lol, my car had working A/C for like 6 months out of the 6 years I've owned it.
Will posted in the V6 section looking for a mini-starter for his car. He wanted actual knowledge not just some speculation and outlined it in his post. Then Six_Shooter locks the thread essentially saying its pointless.

What a pain cutting the carpet around the bars was. At least having the right tool to do it made it less aggravating, lol.
I wish there wasn't a noticeable cut down the middle, but at least it's staying down with some velcro.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
i've got a 72 malibu up north. i put a 307 in it & gave it to my wife 23 years ago. been sitting in the same spot all this time. i should bring it back down someday.
the carpet looks good to me. all the plastics fit back in?
finally got around to pulling my tranny yesterday. ran into a strange problem. got it on the ground and i cant get the converter off. WTF? i knew the pump was bad, but dang. a tranny guy told me maybe the pump bushing melted to the converter? so in a bit, i'm gonna hang the tranny upside down from the converter, & use the trannys weight to force it out. looks like i'll be needing a converter now too?

that's where I cut mine too. mine looks little worse for the wear tho. I had to pull mine back up to chase some wiring issues. i used spray glue, and it doent really want to stick anymore, glue on glue. i think i might steal that Velcro idea.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
i rolled it over yesterday and used boards, then 2 shovel handles putting pressure while tapping it with a rubber mallet. it moved out about 1", but wont spin anymore. it spun easy when i was taking the converter bolts out. very strange.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
the idea worked! but the converter has some minor gauling on the outside of the hub. might clean up? IDK, maybe i should save up for a good converter?
i wont be able to make that meet. gonna be running fireworks for a few weeks.

the motors looking tight Edward. the air-gap and scoop make it look like a piece of art. give us a few details of the build.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
Its not really for sale, I have it on craigslist to see if somebody wants to trade something cool for it. I'm not pushing the issue. I was going to put a price on it, but decided against it. I really want a FJ60 Land Crusier but I figure I'll just go buy one and keep the Camaro.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
i agree, these cars will be worth more money down the road. i tested the waters 2 years ago. some guy wasted hours of my time then low-balled me. next day he called with a semi-reasonable offer. i told him where to go and that i decided to keep it.
made a decision not to put my transmission back in yet. i'm gonna do it right and get a new converter. i have a broke 10", a 12" with a gauled hub, and a stock converter. i dont want to run any of them. so,....i moved on to modifying the rear wheelwells. ive only cut apart the passenger side so far and picked up some sheet metal today to make patch panels. looks like i gained at least 2 inches inward. hoping to run wider & taller tires & rims in a few months. really want to get in on the street warz at showtime dragstrip soon. looks like theyre gonna do it every month now.
