It'd be cool if it could be closer to Orlando, less worry about the car not making it and back.

Hmm. Maybe better to put a meet off for a little longer.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
Looks like I'll be putting on a new battery cable, putting on the power steering, fixing the alt angle, and replacing the valve cover gaskets this weekend. Then driving out to Tampa some time this weekend to meet up with 84 to buy some SBC parts.

I'll be turning the boost up to 12psi once the car cools off. Its gonna be hell on the tires in first haha. It pulls great at 7psi though, so 12 should be awesome for now.
I took it out tuning last night and now its running pretty damn good. Was finally able to get the AE dialed in about 90%, VE autotune is making minimal corrections for my initial AFR table. Not touching spark till I get the knock sensor and such hooked up and working.
Maybe I will grab a video to upload for you guys.

Well, I got the new battery cable installed and was able to tuck it out of the way of the headers. I couldn't get the alt to line up properly, might have to try a different combo of washers tomorrow. I'll probably put the power steering back on on Thursday, I just need to get the pulley on correctly, I have everything else.

Drove the car today. I think I got the alt angle kinda fixed. Car def needs heads. After driving the 4Runner for a couple months I forgot how low and fast the thing is. Nothing like being away for some time to make you remember the good things about it.

Hey Jim-- I'm in for a meet up/ cruise in type of get together. I saw that you had considered quaker steak and lube. That would be a great location as there's plenty of parking, decent food, and it's motorsports themed anyway!

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
I would love to go. Don't remember the last time I was there. Car is down right now for some suspension overhauling. Should HOPEFULLY have it done sometime in the month of May. Then an evening meet(no a/c in my car) would be great!

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
Is there anyone in the Hernando area that could help me. I'm having problems that are hard the explain, I have a 92 rs conv. She only runs when she wants to but when she does its a scolded dog then runs rough and dies, then won't start for an hour or more. But then its more of a limp home, the other thing is my dash is out no lights guages nothing fuse keeps popping and I don't want to put a high amp fuse in. It called for a 15, I put a 30 in and it popped the second I turned ignition, now the help beside some diagnostic and tech, is I moved and lost all my tools, stolen from my storage unit and the place I moved is grass no slab so that being said any help would be greatly appreciated

Its the 305 TB. I the previous owner said the oil pressure sending unit went out and he replaced it before transporting it from Cali. I'll check the ground there first

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
check your fusible links. esp the ones near the starter. they could be cooked and laying on the starter. and like jim said, check, and double check all your grounds..
I always recommend that you ohm your battery cables. it only takes 10 minutes. and its something you want to eliminate early.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
Hey everyone. I just joined this site after buying a 88' Camaro RS. I read a bit about this post and i live in tampa, and i want to learn as much as i can about my car. I work at a restaurant called Roy's across from international mall. Right next to the Airport. We have Plenty of parking, right next to us is a large lot which is not owned . So i think that if any more meets are to happen, this would be a great place for it, plus the food at my restaurant is 5 star, while a little pricey, if i know in advance that a meet is going to happen, i can work some things out to make everything cheaper and smoother. What's better than a car meet and some of the best food you will ever have?
Also, if there are any people who know there stuff in the Tampa area, there are some questions i have regarding my 1988 Camaro RS .

lol you don't know the half of it bought an 87 gta for 800$ plus a bunch of extra parts supposedly "ran" turned the motor over by hand got it home all was well. put the tpi stuff back on thought cool im done fired it up. the damn thing sounded like it was going to launch a piston through the block. old owner conveniently forgot to mention the 4 bearings it spun. found an amazing once in a life time deal on a motor (got a built 350 sbc from a friend of my dads for 450$ that had less then 1100 miles on it) figured wed build it up a little more. then figured I better build the tranny to handle it. then build the rear end to handle the tranny. then went to the exhaust and found pretty bad rust on one. and well it kind of just spiraled out of control from there

Lol, I feel like that's all of us. Aside from 84 and Jim, they seem to avoid those problems lol.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
Welcome! That is a nice area. We had our first "meet" at the International Mall...or was it Westchase Mall? I don't remember. Can never remember malls.
You'll find we all have a list of stuff we have to do to our cars. If you haven't read the thread already, we work on our cars a lot.
Got an ETA on when it'll hit the roads?
Look forward to meeting you guys and seeing your rides as well!

HAHA!
On the way to the last meet with me, Jim and Will, my 700r decided it no longer had 3rd or 4th. I felt like my car was a lifesize picture, cos it couldn't go over 45mph!

I know the feeling! The amount of replaced/repaired/rebuilt stuff is all over the place. It's still not the prettiest thing, but with the 3.4 and the t5, at least it's a bit more mechanically sound!
A/C will be the next step. My compressor seized, and is useless. Luckily, I have a friend with a vacuum pump and some 134a, so that might be next.
On the flip side, my heater core is beginning to leak, but I won't need that till late November...so here we go to bypass city!

Holy hell this thread is hoppin! Welcome to the new guys!
Hey, My first trans didn't die. It just, you know, had a stroke and lost half its function. Technically it could still walk. LMFAO
Hey, don't forget the TBI 350 in the van I used to pick the v6 up in lol
Haha, I remember that. Mine was running on 5 cylinders then!
I'm entertaining building the next set of turbo headers with AC in mind. If they can do AC in a TT 350 car, I can surely do it in a v6 turbo car.
I used my heat this morning, to defrost the windows, lol.
A Gift And A Curse.
