Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
As far as I see it, there isnt an offical one set. That may change when we get there. Never the less, We should go ahead and plan one ourselves.
I would like to ride to Varcity, for the dinner cruise on Saturday. I think we should leave out around 4pm, and keep together as a group as best we can there and back. As far as Im concerned anyone else or generation f body should be welcome to ride along.
If we all agree, why dont we informa Chad that TGO is leading the cruise this year.

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
In the past, the cruise has been hosted by Southeastern Camaro Z, if my memory is working correctly? If they are planning a cruise, I don't want to upstage them and hurt some feelings in the process. That is why I suggested Sunday.
If this cruise happens, someone will have to contact the Varsity and make sure that they know what time to expect us.
Maybe we should try to find out what the status of the TBA cruise is?
Tony, you want to PM Chad or Andy on the gathering site? See if they have any idea of the status of the cruise mentioned?
I will go along with most plans as long as we don't step on the toes of another club in the process.

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
I assume there is going to be last minute plans and they will announce it there or right before hand. Joe's used to give us a discount on dinner, so they may be working on that... who knows?
While I will only be "at the show" Saturday I am right near there and could meet up with you guys another time too as long as I don't have something else going on.
Sunday night is the awards banquet, so I assume they do not want to plan a cruise that night. The afternoon I assume would be fine? They used to have some kind of game planned during the day on Sunday, but I don't see anything listed.

I'm sure you wouldn't of even noticed our absence, but we're going to be lame no-show'ers. It won't happen to often. Look forward to reading the stories and seeing pictures

Charles, we're in Helen now after stopping at Whistle Stop. We can now say we have seen everything.
Brian, have fun on your trip. Be safe. I was almost clipped by a semi who miss judged a curve Friday on I40. Looking to my right I could see his front wheels sliding my way. Glad the 4 barrel works. See you next year.

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
Gathering site is talking about a cruise here, if you want to try and influence the decision. Might be a good idea to talk to Andy/Chad about hosting it next year if you guys want to, or maybe try to get some guys for a Sunday cruise if we are still considering that.

Map, posted, looks like we are on the top row this year, and our old area is back to general parking like it used to be. We have a pretty big area, must be some cars coming. Cant wait!

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
Well, I am not going to be able to take the Camaro this year. Did some work on it and now it has other issues. Main one is it has an oil leak that squirts oil onto the valve cover, then drips onto the exhaust. Only does it under load under acceleration. Have no clue where it is going from. But I am out of time to fix it and am not driving it like that. So I will be driving the Minivan. Will be there with what few people are going with the fbodyinc club. But will stop by and say hi. I will see you all there. Unfortunately my GTA has no engine in it, so I won't be bringing it. Maybe next year. BTW, the forecast looks to be nice all weekend with no chance of rain. Bring your sunblock!

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
Several of us are here.
The move is not a bad thing, as we got more space and a better space. Shade+120 volt power+more room = better space. We have permission to spill over onto the second row, so we are more of a cluster than a row.
The canopy is up. Thanks Kevin for your help. Your beer cooler is too cool!
The banner is a disappointment but it has given us some ideas for next year.
The weather looks great for the weekend.
Lets have a strong turn-out for G-16 and a great weekend.

You can register at the show.
We have plenty of room, so bring your nice Camaro register and join the fun. You may have a winner.

I'm stuck at my work desk less than a mile from the show
I will definitely be there early in the AM tomorrow, so save me a spot. Is there anything going on tonight?
If you guys need anything holler, I don't live far.

I know that feeling. My old office was at 1600 parkwood circle which is off windy ridge and powers ferry. I would get anxious and go over at lunch. 5 couldn't come fast enough.

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
I have 170 pics, not as many as I usually get. My other computer is downloading them to Photobucket right now, however it is running slowly. Maybe it will be completed soon. I usually take around 400 pics, but was too busy this year with other activities. G-16 was Great and a whole bunch of fun. We had 144 cars registered when classifications closed Saturday AM. Last year the number was in the mid 180's, which was the biggest turnout ever. 144 is about average.
The TGO group was very well represented, always entertaining, but never over the top. We had no problems with the management, the hotel, or the Cobb County PD. Maybe we need to try harder next year...
Even though we are all just members of a website here on TGO, we were taken seriously by the clubs represented at G-16. Maybe some of the moderators will be able to attend future gatherings and/or offer us some guidence?
We had a decent turnout of 3rd gens, and took quite a few awards, however it will be great in the future if we can get even more 3rd gens. Several first and second gen owners told me that they think that 3rd gens are on the verge of becoming popular again, as first and second gens have become out of reach for many F-Body fans. Time will tell...
Congrates to Tony, Kevin, Danny, Mark, Chris, and Luke. There are other congrates due, however my old memory does not work as well as it should, so I will have to wait for the FBodyGathering to post the winner's list, or risk getting it wrong. If I left you name out please add it. it was not intentional.
Luke's 1986 350 TPI powered Camaro has been in his family since new. They recently painted the car and it looks great! He installed a 9-bolt posi/disc rear with 3:73 gears, and drove it to G-16 the next day. I figure at the rate he is progressing and the quality of his work, we will see his car become a class winner in 2013. Luke and his car are impressive. The car just needs some more detail work to be perfect. I think I may adopt Luke as a step grandson? Betty and I have 11 grandkids now. Luke, do you want to be number 12? Just Kidding...
My car earned another class winner for 82-92 stock Firebird, and there was some serious competition this year, a Turbo TA that took runner up. When I saw that Turbo TA, all I could think was "Oh S***." There are some very nice mid 80's TA's around, so the competition could get tough.
I think that it is time to make some refinements to my car "Amanda" before she has to vacate her crown...
Kevin had his marro looking and running good. Thanks to Kevin for all of your help. I am not sure if Kevin is just a really nice person, or he just feels sorry for the old worn out fat dude; me? Either way I appreciate you jumping in and helping with the canopy and other equipment.
Tony, thanks for everything you contributed to G-16. You were responsible for making the TGO showing at G-16 a success.
Jordan, sorry you had to work so much. It was great that you all could join us on Saturday afternoon and evening.
Danny, you and Lu Ann are the sort of people I want as family, if we could pick out our family members. Us old farts have to stick together... It was a great weekend! Can't wait until G-17!
Tim and Tammy hung out with our group. They are 4th gen folks who fit right in with the 3rd gen group. Way to go!
Pics still loading.

Our picture tread of G-16. There are 178 photos. Most photos were taken at G-16. The last 10 or so photos were taken on our way back home on Monday. The route is I-75, to I-575, then GA 515, GA HY 60, HY 60 spur, NC HY 74 through Murphy, NC, Marble NC, Andrews, NC, Nantahalla Gorge, then home. HY 74 and NC 28 ( The Hellbender) intersect at the end of Nantahalla Gorge. The Hellbender intersects with US HY 129, (The Tail of the Dragon) at Deals Gap. A great spot for a meet and to run our Camaros and Firebirds. I would not have included these photos, however it is a very beautiful area and a cool place to have lots of fun with a motorcycle or a muscle car.
Feel free to tag photos, and download any copies want.
I was not able to get pictures of every car. I usually take 400 pictures at each gathering, and try to get a pic of each car, but was too busy this year to get around to every area. If you don't find you car sorry in advance.

Thank you guys for all you did. Me and the wifey had a great time on Saturday. Hopefully we can keep it going and have an even bigger turn out next year! Lets try to get with the show people about doing a cruise or hosting the Sat dinner. Will be glad to try and help organize, but I will let the out of town folks figure out what you all wanna do. Hopefully I will have some upgrades to the car next year, and give you guys a run for your money

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
After typing three different posts and watching them dissapear, I'll keep this short. We are home with no problems other than a jug of some type flying up in the air about 3 cars in front of me before Augusta. It landed in the median but I drove through a mist of what smelled like gasoline. Glad no one was throwing out a smoke.
Thanks for the very kind words Charles, we feel the same about you and Betty. After meeting ya'll at G13 we always look forward to your company. Great pics BTW.
Luke, you may be barred to your room next year on Saturday night. Chad too. I'd been right there with ya'll if I had been a little younger. Congrats, your car keeps looking better, the way it should.
Kevin, Tony and family, great to meet ya'll and put a face with the screen names. And thanks again for your service at the Gathering and for our country. Keep up the fine work on your cars and Kevin you will take me down one year.
Jordan and Christie(if name is wrong it's Leigh Ann's fault), also great to meet ya'll and put faces with screen names. Hopefully work will be more forgiving next year and ya'll can spend more time at the Gathering.
Tim and Tammy, also great to meet some more friends. Like Charles said, us old farts have to stick together. Looking forward to seeing ya'll again next year. Hopefully ya'll can bring that third gen, we'll have room for ya no matter what you bring.
I also agree with Charles, we were not the largest or the loudest but they knew we were there, with quality cars and people. Hopefully next year we will be even larger.
I'll let Lu Ann say her part, website won't let me make another post now.
I just wanted to say that I enjoyed spending the weekend with all of you.
Charles and Betty, I feel like you are just like family and I hope to see you next Gathering, if not before. And you'll have to stand in line if you want to adopt Luke, as Danny and I would do the same.
Luke, you are a superb young man and any Mother would be proud of you. I hope that we can visit you next year in Chattanooga. (spelling, I know!)
Christie and Jordan, it was nice meeting you both. I wish you could have stayed with us longer, but I know how it is to get off work sometimes. Maybe next year they will be able to let you go. I look forward to seeing you again next Gathering.
Tim and Tammie, it was wonderful meeting you both. Please come hang out with us again next year no matter what Gen you bring!
Kevin, Tony and family, it was nice meeting you all. And, like Danny, I would like to thank you for your service to our country and the gathering. I look forward to seeing you again next year!!
To echo Charles and Danny, we weren't the largest or the loudest, but they sure knew we were there!

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
It was a pleasure to meet you out there Grngry. I'm glad to finally understand what grngry means I was hoping to get to talk with everyone else at dinner Saturday evening, but that didn't seem to happen since they didn't even know we were coming! I was quite disappointed in that. Even though we enjoyed talking with the husband and wife we sat with, I was hoping to get to sit with all of my fellow TGO members so that we could all chat. Oh well. Hopefully next year I will be bringing my GTA & it will be more organized. I did have a great time though & took a ton of pictures. There were a bunch of really cool cars out there. The dyno day at Hunter's was fun too. I got a few pics of that as well.

I can't take full credit for the pics. Actually Ricky took them and we transferred them to my Laptop before he left. I just posted up everything I had from Gathering. BTW Ricky You're a pretty good photographer.

Glad to hear you made it back safe Kevin. Nice pics BTW
dprest68, I wish we could have gotten together on Saturday as well. It seems that they had an abundance of tables for 8 or more. There were 7 of us there so we grabbed another couple (4th gen) to eat with us. Even had room for more. Also seemed that everyone was going in and registering as smaller parties. When we registered with 7 they told us 45 minute wait but 9 and we got seated right then. I agree that D@B's should have been called but it was pretty much a last minute decision. It all worked out pretty well IMO.

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
The family and I had a great time and it was good to meet the many of you. All the cars looked real good and I too agree we made an impression once again. Charles we appreciate the tent and supplies and Danny, the extras made it look great. Thanks again for the help getting the car back on that damn trailer too! I was glad to see Chris make it safely and return home the same.
Lets do this again next year, and everyone bring another third gen buddy..

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
The primary tasks will be for one of us to assume responsibility for setting up the event. I can probably do a lot of the ground work of setting up the event, once everyone has agreed on where we want to go. We should pick a destination that will be interesting to G-17 participants so that people will want to go on this cruise. We will need to pick a destination that has adaquate parking for 50 or more cars, with around 100 or more patrons at one time. At G-13 when we went to the Varsity, the crowd was larger than that, but I don't have a figure from that event. Our choice needs to be fairly close to the G-17 site and accessable so that we are not asking participants to take unecessary risks driving in heavy traffic or risks from other problems. There were some complaints about the Varsity trip because people did not like driving in downtown. We can probably negoiate a discount from the facility for each participant. We will need to have a plan in the works probably by the end of this year, sooner if we can. We will need to notify Andy and Chad so that they can plan it in to the G-17 itinerary from the time the website is updated for the 2013 year.

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
I have some concerns as to if the administrators of this site are OK with us registering at the gatherings as the Thirdgen.org group. No one has ever said one way or the other, so a few days ago, I wrote to the site administrator and asked. No one has answered yet, and of course we don't have to be in any hurry for an answer. I want to make sure that we are not taking liberties and infringing on the site's rights through the use of this site name as our club affiliation, since this is not a club, but a techinical resource site for thirdgen owners. When they answer, we can procede accordingly. I think that Tony and Kevin are trying to revive the Georgia F Body Club, and that may be a route for us to follow if Thirdgen.org is not in favor of us registering under thier name. It is good exposier for the site, however I want to make sure that everyone is in agreement before we take more responsibilites at the gatherings. At G-15 the Thirdgen.org group was merely a reserved place to park for members of Thirdgen.org at the gathering. Now we are discussing hosting events, which elevates us from a group of people who are members of a website, to club affiliation and participation on a whole other level. I have spoke to a family member who is a lawyer, and she assures me that due to the nature of these events, we are not assuming liability for anyone's safety, however we will continue to research precidents to make sure that we don't get ourselves involved in anything that can cause us of this site any legal or ethical issues. Maybe others will chime in and add information. Charles
