I have told you. At least i'm almost positive I did. Or maybe I was going to tell you this weekend while up in Atlanta.

Re: Florida meet anyone?

Cocoa Beach is fine with me,, should be able to make it.. But only if I get my air conditioning fixed by then. Not going more than a half hour anywhere in Florida in July without air.

As far most centrally located, unless people are coming from Naples or Tallahassee areas, Cocoa Beach is pretty fair. But then really so is Orlando.

Per Mapquest,
to Cocoa Beach:

From Jacksonville, 162 miles 2.5 hours
From Miami, 206 miles 3.5 hours
From Saint Petersburg, 153 miles 2.5 hours
From Fort Myers, 209 miles 4 hours.
From Gainsville, 168 miles 2.75 hours
From Naples, 250 miles, 4.5 hours
From Tallahassee, 311 miles, 5 hours

To Orlando

From Jacksonville, 140 miles, 2.2 hours
From Miami, 234 miles, 3.75 hours
From St Petersburg, 106 miles, 2 hours
From Fort Myers, 196 miles 3 hours
From Gainesville, 114 miles 2 hours
From Naples, 202 miles 3.75 hours
From Tallahassee 257 miles, 4 hours

Re: Florida meet anyone?

Orlando would be best for me if I bring my Camaro. It falls just within my 100 mile AAA free tow radius. lol

Per Mapquest,
I'm basing the location on where the people who have posted in this thread are located. Unless I missed someone, there are no Tallahassee/Pensacola people who have posted. It's almost all east coast interest. I-95 runs all the way down the east coast so somewhere off of there makes it easy.
Agreed HiG4s, Florida in July without air is killer. I need to get mine fixed as well as get it tinted.

Re: Florida meet anyone?

I'm in Panama City.. I'm sorta planning on attending, but I've got an engine swap to do over the summer and the timing might conflict. If it's close to that weekend I might post-pone the swap to make the meet, but it all depends on how my engine holds up between now and then. Cocoa Bch works for me as I have an aunt I can visit while there. Orlando works too as it is closer to me. Win win situation

Re: Florida meet anyone?

Awesome ZZ3. Nice setup! What are you swapping in? Hope you can make it out.

The last time I went to that parking lot there were quite a few empty spots. I'm 2-1/2 hours away but i'll try to get there early and see if they can reserve some parking for us. I will setup a canopy with an F-Body sign on the beach so everyone knows where to go. Maybe around 3-4pm we can do the car show type thing and afterwards either go get dinner or if you live far head home. Ideas??

Re: Florida meet anyone?

Thanks CharcoalBird. It will be a forged bottom end 350 with AFR195's. Will keep it a stock TPI top end. Undecided on the cam but definitely mild. I only need it to run 1 second quicker in the 1/8th than it does now with the stock engine to surpass my goal of 6.99. Should be a fun car that drives like it is completely stock.

Hope I can get down there. I do have a trailer so I can bring it even if it is limping. Just need the timing to be right

Re: Florida meet anyone?

Hi guys, I'm new to the board but would be down for a meet. Orlando would be best for me. Also, Saturday evenings/Sundays would work best as I work at a Motorcycle dealrship and am always working Saturday during the day.

Re: Florida meet anyone?

I have never been around that area. I cannot pick a spot. I,m not crazy about standing out in the sun.
When I lived in south florida we had a couple of vette meets. They were great, people came from all over Florida. People gathered at rest stops at a set time and left in groups. The FHP worked with us, we went to Jupiter. We had over 300 cars. We went to a restaurant (pre arranged) had lots of parking. Had a great day.
Now I know this is not what will happen here, but it's a start for us third gen guys. I did a map quest, for me it is 2.5 hours each way. As I stated before I'm south west of St. Agustine. If the beach is our spot, so be it. Set a time. Lets start the list of who is coming.

Re: Florida meet anyone?

Places such as Hooters usually work with large groups and car meets pretty well. I could call and ask if we could arrange something. Maybe they will let us cone off of Caution tape a section for us if we have enough people show. Has a large parking lot being it's next to some other stores. We still have just under 2 months until the date. There is a Hooters not far off of I-95.

125 Sykes Creek Drive
Merritt Island, FL 32953

Also, it would be best to start a new thread just for this event instead of keeping it here. I'll start one tonight if I get any feedback on whether Hooters is a good idea or not. You can use google maps to view where it is and how the parking situation looks.

How far West,, I'm North, between Jax and St Augustine, and it shows me as 2 1/4 hours.

Re: Florida meet anyone?

It 3/4 of an hour just to get to 95. A lot of 35 and 45 mph roads. If I had a clean shot to 95 it would be fast and easy.
But this won't stop me from being there.

Any input on the Hooters location in Merritt? Large parking lot because it's connected with several other stores, don't have to stay outside in the heat. Food, drinks, hooters.

Re: Florida meet anyone?

Hooters is just... soo.. noisy. Surely someone in the area knows of a local flavor kind of place (sports bar or whatever) that would be better. When we do meets over in Destin there is a sports bar place in a big shopping plaza and the owner loves cars. Always unlimited parking and a really good place to eat. Better looking girls working there too LOL. Hooters in my area suck, so maybe better over there in your area.. I dunno

July 23rd has been said in a few posts. I also thought there had been an address listed in Cocoa Beach for the meet, but I cannot find it now.

The reason is due to the fact that the address was for a parking lot which was to access the beach only. There is a new address which is for a hooters that is closer off of I-95 and has plenty of parking, food/drinks/air conditioning. The address may change if someone from the Cocoa area knows of a better restaurant with plenty of parking willing to accommodate us, I think I better put a cap on this date as well and if it is not set in stone by June 30th, then this address is:

125 Sykes Creek Drive
Merritt Island, FL 32953

Well, I suppose to get my A/C looked at Monday, but just got a bill from the IRS saying there was a mistake in my 2009 taxes and I owe $800 and have to pay it in 2 weeks.

Not sure I will have my A/C fixed by the meet now.

That sucks man. I just got an update from the place I bought new wheels from. They won't be shipping till late July/early August. So I won't have them for the meet. The car is sitting on 3 flat tires waiting for these new wheels. I will be there for sure, but may not be with my car unfortunately.

You going to Vegas for business or pleasure? Either way, enjoy. There are quite a few people from Jacksonville on the board. Could set up a meet with them anytime. I think having a Florida third gen gathering once a year would be a good idea.

Re: Florida meet anyone?

I know it would be cool to have one big meet, but some of us cant make the drive. but since i live in Jax, i can have a meet in Daytona on the 23rd and all of the people that cant make the drive to that can have a meet to cocoa beach. and one day we can have a big meet in Orlando or something. So let me know if anyone is interested in having a meet in Daytona.

My company flies me out there every 2 years for a convention. So it is for business, but there is always fun to be had after the meetings.

That's a great idea, we can start planning now for down the road & have a nice getogether in Jacksonville. That would kick ***!

Well i think the daytona meet on the 23rd would work pretty well, if we can spread the word enough in time (and if my formula has a new rearend by then...which it should)
everyone who thinks they can make it post and ill make a list

Mike, one big meet would be MUCH better than 2 smaller meets. Mapquest has it at an hour drive from Daytona to Merritt Island. Unless you get HORRIBLE gas mileage, why would you want split up the meet for an hours drive?

well one HUGE meet from all around Fl would be great but i can understand why the southern florida people wouldnt want to do it in northern FL
either way im down for anything. i just want a large group of third gens to get together from all over florida
