Picking up a 1991 Z28 today...
I've been on and off the board now for about 10 years. I started with a 92 RS in 2000, realized I wanted to go faster and 3 years later got an 87 IROC-Z28. Found a 1990 IROC-Z for my wife, and then a few years later sold both before we moved back to TN.
After moving to TN, I bought a 1991 Z28 off of eBay and picked it up in Ohio. Big mistake - That car was a rust bucket. It wasn't go to work for what I wanted to do.
Anyway.... fast forward to this week.
I had been searching Craigslist all over the South and came across what was described as a 1992 Z28 for sale. The pic looked to be a Z28, as it had the wing. The motor was missing, but I was pretty sure that I had confirmed with the previous owner that it was a TPI car....... Being that the motor was gone and the body was in primer, I assumed everything was correct. I made arrangements to pick up the car and the day before I asked for the VIN. Ran it and it came back as a 1992 RS. I really should have caught it in the pics - I didn't see it 'til later, but in the pics you could see the cover over the area where the TPI snorkel would ordinarily be.... I called the seller and explained that I simply couldn't use an RS (mostly because I want a TPI car/harness).
I happened upon a 1991 Z28 (both VIN and RPO sheet confirm Z28 on this one!) in middle TN later that day. Asked the seller for pics and I was literally shaking when I saw them. I was expecting the typically used thirdgen, either missing paint, or lots of damage, or something else wrong... To my surprise, I saw a shiny red Z28 that looked great! The carpet/seats are out, so I have a great shot of the floorpan - Its almost perfect!
It does need a fair amount of work, but I think this will be the one that finally gets built the way I've always envisioned.
My boss offered to come along so we could use his dually and his enclosed trailer to pick it up... Its all hooked up and ready to head out late morning and go get it!! WOOOT!!!

Picked up the car yesterday. It looks really really nice.
Paid $1500, literally all it needs is a radiator, battery, seats, and carpet.
Came with the cold air kit for behind the fogs, air foil, and strut tower brace too!
