Volusia County Florida!

Re: Volusia County Florida!
Good plan. If it doesn't show back up, don't worry about it. If it does, bring it over and I will help you. Like I said, OBD1 is easy once you figure it out. I just have made enough mistakes in the past that I have a lot of it figured out...

Re: Volusia County Florida!
I'm swapping back to 3.23's, I have a low mile set out of my 4th Gen. In my old 86', I did back to back testing stock 3.23's vs. 3.73's. I ran about .15 quicker and picked up about 1.5 MPH swapping back to the 3.23's. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't personally done the work and raced the car to back it up. My 86' had an 87' L98 long block, small cam, full bolt ons. Needless to say it breathed better than my 91' does currently - and responded well to going back to stock gearing. I expect to drop about the same off my ET when I swap gears in the 91'. I've done the math, and 3.23's on a 26" tall tire will put me right where I want to be with mild mods.
If you want a 3.23 4th Gen rear, my friend just bought a 95' TA rolling chassis that got hit in the front. He would be willing to part with the rear in about a week - if you're interested. The car also has a decent leather interior if anyone is interested in swapping to 4th Gen seats.

Re: Volusia County Florida!
Im looking for a 3.42 10 bolt.
I finally got the stupid ecm to read me the codes. I got 32, 36 and 4?. At the 4? it stopped reading after 4 and just stayed solid. I had the ecm fuse out for a good 15 minutes letting it reset itself and thats what let it start reading codes again to begin with. The fuse is currently out again now after 3 failed ecm resets. What I think happened though is when the car is on the on position in the ignition you hear a humm. When the humm stopped thats when the bulb stopped flashing. Connection maybe? I will adventure more.
````````````````````````````````````````````````
Alright I got it to display all codes. It was 32, 36, and 42.
yeah they are fairly easy an inexpensive. i got the book to help and i have done it on a ford tempo before. little stuff will always win. mine are original too.
Re: Volusia County Florida!
Bring your car to my house. Wheel bearings are super easy. You just have to get a feel for them.
Buy all 4, and whatever we can reuse, we will. What we can't, you can return.
Cost ya a 12 pack of Bud Light and can of brake cleaner. Includes the grease (I use nice synthetic wheel bearing grease).
i know, we live in fl. hot air everywhere. have removed seal from back of hood. cool air is drawn in. but does act the same once it's nice and hot.
Re: Volusia County Florida!
Looks good. You still have air pump. You have a convertor? It will still be fine, but not heat up as fast without the pump. You can yank the pump with some plugs for the manifold and a different length belt. Really cleans the underhood uo, and does not make that much difference...
Re: Volusia County Florida!
yeah no real hp gains but major apperance gain. the little plugs bother me cause 8 little plugs is alot that could go crappy. but am removing this before header swap, to ease install. and time shoot. takes longer for warmup. notice now when cold that motor revs to 2k, but when warm only like 1200-1500, just sounds bad, when cold start up.
#178
Re: Volusia County Florida!
Let's do that the 27th too. I will find the belt spec and what size the plugs. They go just fine, and we can cut them off and make it look good.
Re: Volusia County Florida!
970K6, I have one with almost no miles Willie can have. I wasn't going to do UD pullies, but someone gave me a brand new set. So, now I need a new belt. Might as well give the one on the car now to someone who can use it - rather than add it to things I can't use on the shelving.
Re: Volusia County Florida!
Your sig says punched cat. That smog pump is just weighing you down. It is used to heat up the cat at start up. Yank it, replace the belt, plug the holes, and you don't even throw a code. Done a ton of these in my life.
The 970k6 may work. Buy the right one and keep the receipt. You can return it if unneeded.
Joe gets free labor for my giving him the code 42. I wish I still had my OBD1 scanner. One of you guys should buy one. I paid and sold mine for $50 on ebay.
----------
Oh wait. I wasn't charging him anyways.
970K6 is the correct belt, I've used it on all of my 88'-92' cars after removing the smog pump. No need for him to buy one, I'm giving him one w/ less than 1K miles on it.
I'll swing it by on the 27th and say hello. Gives me a good reason to drive the 2000.
got 8 1/4 npt brass plugs today, what a cluster. between home depot and 2 disount auto parts, 5 1/4 npt square, 10 1/4 npt hex. went with the hex. easier cause can get wrench on it. although square head ones seem to have smaller opening and less depth in them, ohwell only on till winter. hedmans should be in hand tuesday by latest. will send pics.
Yeah, I left the air tubes on my car for now. They'll be gone when I do the headers in about 3-4 weeks. I got the SFC's and cut out done today though.
Headers on a 2000? What kind. I have done a bunch now. Not hard at all!
Please tell me that you did not buy the idler pulley..... Ugh. I rebuild, paint, and change them for like $20.
Re: Volusia County Florida!
No, headers for my 91'. My 2000 has Kooks 1.75" - 1.875" stepped headers w/ TSP TD's. And yes - bought an idler for the 2000. The one between the WP & PS pullies. It was squealing like a pig, the new GM part seems to have done the trick.
pulled out instr. cluster to look at speedo which has stopped working. guess being elec. the whole unit has to replaced? couldn't access the gears in it. while i had lower dash out looked at VSS what a cluster! Elite Code Alarm VSS. maybe change up to higher mph elec. gauge.
