Re: Florida thirdgens
Yes sir, looking forward to getting back out. I moth balled the car a couple years back.. Just fell out of love with it. I had string of nonsense that pushed me over.... Thought about pushing it out in the street and lighting it on fire on numerous occasions.. Once i get a little better tune it ill be out and about.
Anyone here know FAST XFI?

Re: Florida thirdgens
Happy to report that my car is 96.3% done. I've been driving it around some, had my horrible tint replaced, and currently have the window drip rails off so I can repaint them and put in new upper weatherstrips.
Beyond that my only issues left are all tuning related. I have HPTuners, but need to educate myself more in the art of tuning.
Its definitely running rich, I doubt I've driven more than 100 miles and the oil already smells pretty strongly of fuel.
Already took out what seems like a bunch of fuel for cold start idle, just so it would kinda idle, used to stall after startup.
Yep, couple of us around.
Think I saw your car before when I was still working in Leesburg.
By chance, was it a local shop that told you that your head gasket is bad?
I've learned over the years that some shops will tell people they have a bad head gasket because its a bigger repair and tends scare problem cars/problem customers away if they don't want to deal with it.
Either that, or they mis-diagnose it.
I even have a perfect example of each.
1. Some years ago when I was working as a service advisor at another dealership, we used to have one guy in the shop that would often "cry wolf" and say that a car has been in an accident to try and get out of having to do certain warranty work.
2. When I bought my truck (1997 c1500 pickup), the previous owner told me that his "trusted" mechanic told him the truck had not only a blown head gasket, but also a bad ECM. Yeah, that was BS because all that was wrong was the typical crappy Vortec 350 spider injectors, a new water pump, and a damn fuse for the OBD2 port. Dudes scanner wasn't able to pull codes, and ruled it as a bad computer all because they were too lazy or lacked the knowledge to check the fuses lmao.
Anyways, I'm not on here super often. But if you'd like some assistance/guidance on replacing your head gasket send me a message, I can at least be a useful source of information because I've been there. Replaced the head gasket on my old 4.3 Silverado lol.

20th of this month we're meeting in San Antonio, FL and cruising through the twisties into Brooksville. End location will be Glory Days in Brooksville. We usually meet around 10am but I'll update when there is a set time and meet location. These cruises are always a good time.

Any of you FLA guys recognize this car ? I bought it from a guy in Tampa back in April. Trying to figure out who the original builder was.

Re: Florida thirdgens
I had seen that car a few times. Quite nice.
There is a nice red late 80'd Formula in Lakeland. I see it parked on Edgewood in a small plaza quite often.

Re: Florida thirdgens
Yes, I see that car sometimes too. That person works in one of those businesses in the plaza. I was headed down Florida south of the parkway(heading towards Mulberry) and saw 2 clean third gens. One coming out of a carwash(white vert camaro) and another headed north bound past me. They had to have seen each other.

Re: Florida thirdgens
There Are two white convertible 3rd gens running around. One has stripes though. The one guy has a friend with a red 3rd gen. They used to go to the little Friday night thing on South Florida Ave. I haven't been to any of the new locations since they got stopped from going to the lot outside of Denny's.

If you see a NBM 4th Gen SS with chrome 5 spokes and loud, that's probably me. I don't have it out much but once in a while I stretch it's legs.

BTW, I never realized there was a Big Lots there. I have been before, I think twice with the SS. Usually I had a different car.
