Pre-Hype: 1LE going up for sale soon
You heard it here folks - I'll be selling my 1LE third gen Camaro with ~77k miles on it within the next couple of months! I havent finalized how i will sell it but I'm considering listing it on Doug Demuro's Carsandbids.com. I did really well selling my last thirdgen at gatewayclassiccars.com so i may go that route... I do intend to finish the last couple of projects I already bought parts for first - primarily the headliner restoration and getting the original rebuilt transmission put back in.
This car got from me:
-new Holley fuel tank
-new Walbro 255 fuel pump
-new Hawks sending unit
-new stoptech brake pads all around
-new rear rotors
-rear calipers fully rebuilt
-front calipers were in good shape, just greased them up
-new fluids all around - yes ALL fluids including rear diff, power steering, brakes, coolant, oil, trans.. everything
-new OEM style radiator
-100% new Audio system with Pioneer amp powering rear 6x9's and new speakers all around. it sounds great! android auto supported. have a cheap 12 sub and 1000w amp installed also but probably remove those before sale.
-hatch pulldown mechanism rebuilt and upgraded with kit from Top Down Solutions
still to do before selling:
-headliner restoration
-fresh rear main seal (when the tranny is installed)
-original close ratio trans swapped back in (has already been rebuilt)
-clutch TBD. it was low mileage when i bought the car and has worked flawlessly... will get mechanics to photograph it when they pull tranny and will be replaced at the slightest hint of an issue.
any feedback on what i could/should do to maximize my potential would be appreciated..

This is the nut that got a 1991 1LE Z/28 and proceeded to cut a gaping azz hole in the floor to replace a fuel pump.

Ouch, with 1LE cars, the low mile, unmolested stock cars bring the best money. Modifying them really kills the value.
really hope you didn't cut the hole, collectors walk away from that.

Adding an access panel for the fuel pump was actually suggested by the collector that sold it to me. With a fresh sheet of metal, kilamat sound deadening over top and the carpet in place its impossible to know there ever was a hole. Moisture will never be an issue either unless you drive into a lake but then you've got bigger problems.

Although cutting a shoebox size hole in the body to service a fuel pump is not my cup of tea.... Looking at the list of parts replaced, I have to conclude this gentleman actually saved the car from neglect of the first owner. Car is likely in a better place now than it was before.

Too bad about that hole, but GL with the sale.
I clicked on one of the Gateway location websites; they sure are proud of their cars.

Re: Pre-Hype: 1LE going up for sale soon
I hope to have it sold by end of may at the latest. Plan to pull headliner this weekend then send it over to my mechanic next week for tranny swap and rear main seal. if all goes well it will be up at gateway classic cars Dallas location by end of month. Life happens though so I might get delayed - am pretty motivated though. Gateway had my previous third gen sold inside of 2 weeks.

Re: Pre-Hype: 1LE going up for sale soon
13 days after bringing the car to gateway classic cars, an agreement has been made to sell the car for very close to what I was asking for. as of right now, the car isnt officially sold but its locked in to a pre sale with a 1000 dollar non refundable deposit while paperwork goes thru. I know nothing about the buyer except what I was told - that he is a collector of Camaros.

have a verbal agreement and a 1000 non refundable deposit on the sale, so mostly its sold. guy could back out and lose his 1k tho. not likely. just waiting on paperwork to go thru. as i understand it, this guy hasnt even seen the car face to face yet. he will have it shipped to his place and see it for the first time long after buying. i could be wrong. just drawing context from what the guys at Gateway told me.

Re: Pre-Hype: 1LE going up for sale soon
It looks really nice in the Gateway ad. Your asking price seems very reasonable for the car. Should be an easy sale at your price.
I didn't know it had AC retrofitted to it. Looks like a nice install and I really like that style of compressor compared to the troublesome factory R4 pancake style AC compressor.

What is Gateway's take out of curiosity?
Not your $$ amount specifically, but the general calculation they use.

I dont know their exact formula but they are very upfront about their cut when you deal with them. They should be getting around 2500 out of this particular deal.
