FS: 1992 Camaro Z28 $2000 Cash

my fbody needs to go to a new home, i dont have the time nor money to take care of her anymore.

over the past year i have replaced lots of things, put almost 6k (not in performance parts) into the car after buying it for 3k... i need to get something that gets better gas mileage as well.

Motor:
2 Piece Rear Main 350, bored .030 over and stroked
Stock 64cc Swirl Ports
212/214 .444/.454 110LSA Comp Cam
Stock TPI
Hooker Super Competition Headers (bottom 2 tubes are smashed at the collector on both sides because of ground clearance problems... the car also has a temporary exhaust on it right now, mufflers have like 2" ground clearance, and are right after the headers)
40# injectors

I Dynoed the car and, UNTUNED, it puts out a little more HP than a stock 350 TPI, and a lot more torque... the torque curve is also a lot different and has a hell of a lot of low end power... all its torque is at like idle-3k rpm. If the car was tuned, im sure it would put at least another 30-40hp to the wheels because of how rich it runs right now.

heres what has been replaced over the past year, some of it more recently:
GM Tranny Mount (3 days ago)
Flywheel (3 days ago)
Precision U-Joints (3 days ago)
GM Torque Arm Bushing (2 weeks ago)
Upper and Lower Radiator Hoses
160* Thermostat
Aluminum Core Radiator
Ignition Module
Ignition Coil (msd blaster 2)
Ignition Wires (msd 8.5mm superconductors)
Spark Plugs (accel shorty plugs)
Distributor Cap and Rotor
IAC
MAP Sensor
Knock Sensor
Serpetine Belt
Belt Tensioner
Valve Cover Gaskets
Rear Main Seal (2 piece rear main block)
Front Brake Pads
Rear Brake Shoes
Wheel Cylinders
Master Cylinder
Front Headlights (both low and high beams)
Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump
6*9 Sony Xplode Speakers
4*6 Sony Xplode Speakers
NEW Goodyear Eagle GT-HR 245/50/16 in front
BFGoodRich G-Force Sport 255/50/16 in back (3/32-4/32nd tread left)

theres a lot more little stuff but i cant think of it all right now off the top of my head

Also:
Car has an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on it, so you can change the fuel pressure at the turn of a screw... there is a Sony Xplode CD player in the car, its also wired up to hook up a amp and subs in the trunk... theres a B&M Mega Shifter on top of the 700R4

Right now i have my 1985 Z28 hood on the car, i have a Harwood Fiberglass Cowl induction hood that comes with the car... but the fiberglass is split where the 2 layers meet together up front... can easily be fixed by someone that can work with fiberglass.

Also, i have a MSD 6A ignition still in the box that comes with the car, never installed.

The bad:
passenger side axle has about 1mm play... carrier has no play so i think its the c-clip

one of the electric fans isnt comming on anymore, so that needs to be replaced as well.

Car needs a paint job

T-top seals leak in HEAVY rain only

Re: FS: 1992 Camaro Z28 $2000 Cash

heh... actually i was going to sell my camaro a while ago, had it listed and then took it down because i wasnt going to get the $4500 i wanted for my car.

well, i need the money now... got a 2008 Mazda B2300 truck the other week, so if i can get $2000 for my camaro i dont really even care anymore.

this is my third 3rd gen camaro and i was ready to move onto something else... mainly something that got better gas mileage and could pop a curb lol

my best suggestion to anyone (who doesnt want to keep the car) would be to buy the car, pull the motor and sell the car as a rolling chassis. the motor, wiring harness and all the sensors are worth as much as im selling the car for, and the motor runs strong as hell. it makes rediculous amounts of low end torque because of the cylinder heads and camshaft that are in there

Re: FS: 1992 Camaro Z28 $2000 Cash

the body is straight, the only thing is the pinch rail up by the front tire is smashed a little bit on both sides, because of people not knowing how to properly rack this car up and lift it on a lift. pisses me off people are too stupid to put it on the frame

front end is tight, no play in pitman/idler arms or balljoints.

and this is my third 3rd gen camaro... im only 19, and trying to move out with my girl and having the camaro isnt an option... putting $10 in a day just to go to work and back sucked. but one day down the road, i know for a fact, i will have yet another camaro.

coyotesa: sorry im not interested in any trades, need the money... thats why im selling the car for $2k.

I dont want yall to think this car is a fubar pos just because im selling it for $2000... if i had the extra money i would replace the coolant fan, get the exhaust put back on and replace the c-clip on the axle... and then sell it for $4000+, but i dont have the time nor money to do it anymore... like i said, ive put over $6k into this car to make sure it would be a reliable car... but this is as far as i can take her.

How many other Fbodys can you get, that are like this one for $2000? if you can find one let me know because i know for a fact you cant... i hope someone that truely is interested in this car hops on it soon... ever since i put the car on here ive gotten a lot of people interested in it.

THIS IS A STEAL! MY LOSS YOUR GAIN! I bought the car for $3000, put $6000 and now am selling it for $2000? get her while you can

Re: FS: 1992 Camaro Z28 $2000 Cash

first of all, how does the car look like it has been "bottomed out heavily" ? obviously youve never taken a look at third gen camaros that get driven daily everywhere... the ground effect on the front bumper scrapes on any sort on incline going into driveways etc. thats why it looks like that.

second of all, how would bottoming the car out make me replace a knock sensor and a map sensor? they are nowhere near the bottom of the car.

i replaced the knock sensor because the computer was throwing a code for the knock sensor when i got the car, and i replaced the MAP sensor because when i had a MODIS hooked up to the car and was doing diagnostic tests on all the sensors the voltage readings didnt look perfect to me, so i replaced the map sensor for the hell of it.

nitrous (not nos) would have no effect at all on a MAP sensor or a knock sensor... the only thing it could ruin would be a O2 sensor... and i dont see how that would happen either. and no, nitrous has never been run on this car

and the "obvious" front end collision could not have been a collision becase the fenders, hood, and bumper are all aligned, and none of the body panels have been taken off. most of the cracking in the paint came from me pulling up to far in my driveway and pushing the front bumper up against my trashcan and added to the stress cracks in the paint... it wasnt very noticeable when i first got the car, but driving down the highway at 70mph and washing the car slowly but surely is taking the paint off the bumper more and more.

if you are here to just rag on my camaro please dont post anymore

Re: FS: 1992 Camaro Z28 $2000 Cash

to tell you the truth i was ready to try to get the cash and come and pick the car up(hence i was asking for address in pm). It really looked great to me. i didn't word my previous post correctly and i am sorry. I pulled all of my friends on their feet to look at the car and one of them responded with this:
"it appears it has been bounced off another car (damaged nose)as well as bottomed out severely(replaced flywheel and crushed headers). I would be scared of the automatic trans and the price is cheap for a fast car"(i explained this to him that you are looking for cash so that is why pretty cheap price.)" As well, with all of the replaced sensors and so forth, I would bet they were spraying NOS and had a nitrous backfire and destroyed most of the sensors."
i'm sorry if it sounded like i was raging your car. It looks like a good deal but a lot of people are trying to talk me out of buying it.
I been asking more questions around and overall conclusion is that no matter what this is a great deal. I am still eager to look at the car.

Re: FS: 1992 Camaro Z28 $2000 Cash

put hooker supercompetition long tube headers on a third gen camaro and try to go over a speed bump and see what happens. thats why the bottom 2 tubes at the collector are smashed

the flywheel was replaced because there was a spot on there that had a little bit of the metal taken off from what looked like someone having a incorrect starter on the car and it stripped a little bit off 5 of the teeth... there is a new high torque starter from CSI i believe on there which probably was replaced after they figured out the OEM starter doesnt with with a 2 piece rear main? i replaced the flywheel because i thought it was the cause of a drivetrain vibration... but that turned out to just be the u-joints.

heres the deal why im selling the car for $2000:

ive bought 2 Z28s in my life so far, and im only 19.... i was planning on going to UTI after i graduated highschool, but instead i sold my 1992 RS 3.1 and got $1800 for it, went up to Waco and got a 1985 Z28... interior wasnt that bad, the exterior was ok... paint job was **** and under the hood didnt look that great. well, the car drove alright and didnt seem like it had any major problems at all, so i bought it for $2500 and drove it back home 90 miles with no problem. well, i started it up the next morning and had a missfire,... awesome! got to school and pulled the plugs and they were new, but oil fouled to hell. i got sold a car with destroyed valve seals and piston rings that were allowing a assload of oil into the cylinder.

well long story short i built a awesome all chromed out 350, brand new everything and just got the motor broke in at about 1500 miles and then i got tboned by a 2004 F150. that was $8500 down the hole

then with the $4k that i got back from insurance (only 2k for the car, 2k for "pain and suffering" because this was drawn out over 4 months) i found this 1992 Z28 sitting on the side of the road with the sign "92 Z28, 383 Stroker" and a phone number. called the guy, test drove it, ran ok but needed work. got the car for $3k, immediatly had to put new tires, shocks/struts, knock sensor, rear main seal, and a headlight switch in there JUST to be able to drive it everyday.

over time i started replacing all the other things that needed to get done as preventative matinence (hoses, cap/rotor, wires, plugs, ignition module) etc.

My dad loaned me all the money to do this to these 2 camaros (14k) on his credit card and ive almost just finished paying him back... its been a long drawn out ordeal with my camaro and i just cant take care of her anymore.

sum of the story: i got screwed over twice with buying used cars, i have morales and dont want to sell someone a car that i know has a couple problems and not tell them about it, while selling the car for a lot more at the same time. I think that im doing you guys a honest service by telling you about the rearend etc.... because to someone just comming to look at the car and go test drive it... they would have no idea at all.

PM'ed you the address

Re: FS: 1992 Camaro Z28 $2000 Cash

Thanks for detailed explanation and i am sorry about the accident. I thought about how preventative maintenance goes and actually came up with a lot of stuff for my bird as well(u-joints, plugs, oil sending unit, bearings, idler arm, vacuum hoses).

Re: FS: 1992 Camaro Z28 $2000 Cash

i have no idea how much TQ it is actually putting to the wheels right now because when i dyno'ed the car it was done in second gear, and started the dyno at about 3k rpm. the TQ peak is probably around 2500rpm maybe a little lower, but the numbers i got over 3k were the same as a stock L98 (hp wise) the torque curve was really flat over 3k

and this is with the car all untuned and running rich

Re: FS: 1992 Camaro Z28 $2000 Cash

first one here with $1900 cash gets the car.

needs an full exhaust put on and the coolant fan fixed to be able to drive the car everyday, rearend will hold up for daily driving as long as not beaten on and trying to break it.

right now i have flowtech raptor mufflers hammered onto exhaust pipe right after the collector of the headers just so it would be quiet enough to have run. the exhaust hits the underneath of the car when driven and shifting, and only has like 2" clearance from the ground right now...

those are the reasons im selling it this cheap.... i need money asap and i dont care how big of a loss i take on this car anymore. i just need it gone, im trying to move out in the next month so the car has to go. like i said, $1900 and the title's in your name.
