Houston folks - Scavenger hunt?
So I got this crazy idea tonight, how about a scavenger hunt in Houston? The idea is in its infancy, but what I've got so far is:
-Meet at James Coney Island on Westeimer
-Have 5,6, maybe more checkpoints that you would have to go to and pick up an item from that point. Would be something that everyone who joins would be able to get, and if it has to be bought, it would be very cheap, like $1 or something.
-Each checkpoint would have a "restriction" on the drive there to make it interesting.
-Finish at Hooters at I-45 and 1960
-Have a $5 or $10 buy-in to go to prizes. First place would get something like a $20 gift certificate for dinner to their choosing, and $20 to gas. Prizes would trickle down so that everyone got something out of it.
Right now I'm just trying to get an interest count to see if anyone would want to do. I know up here it was a pretty big hit. just post if you'd be interested or not and any suggestions you might have.

Sounds cool to me--I'm in!
If there is not enough interest to do this--maybe a poker run? Only troube with that is U have to have somebody at at least 5 locations to hand out the cards. However, borrowing an idea/concept from some of my biker buddies, U can go around to 5 businesses where there would normally be somebody there anyway, and get them to agree to hand out the cards. Especially if those 5 locations are automotive businesses that we might want to use there services in the future. Problem solved!

Craig - A poker run would be cool, but the main reason I thought of doing it this way was to try and keep the illegal activities to a minimum. Sure, people are still going to be racing no matter what, but a poker run is more of a race by definition than this is. We'll just have to see how it plays out.
Counting the people here and on the other boards, I've got about 15 people that are interested so far, and thats just in 2 days. Give it some more time and maybe we can get even more people in. Anyone know any other Houston area boards? I've posted this here, LS2.com, LS1.com, LS1tech.com, and CamaroZ28.com.
Oh yeah, and something else I'm toying with is making it a true scavenger hunt with a list of items and different points values for each item.

I like the idea...I'd just need a map I get lost easily, and driving in the downtown area agitates my chronic roadrageitis. I know quite a few places where you could opt the poker run idea In this town. I've heard of people using business cards as cards...worked pretty good for a funraiser with my boss's biker buddies.

Hmm...might be something to consider then, guess I thought a poker run was a little different. Just seems to me like it would be over pretty quick and not really that much competition. Eh, we'll see how it plays out.

There may be other versions, but this is the only one I have been exposed to.

Alright, so I've got 12 people that would do it so far, not including myself, my brother, and a couple of friends of ours. So far, that would make about 17 people. Anyone know of any other Houston area boards I can post this on?
