700r4 question with aftermarket efi

Hello, I recently got an aftermarket efi system to replace the TBI unit on my 92 Camaro. I had one of these on a 91 car and loved it. It was a t5. Very easy install. My question is, with this car being a 700r4 will I have to do anything special for the 700r4 with an aftermarket efi? Will the lock up still work? Never thought about that when I ordered the system till just now. Can I just leave the stock computer hooked up and bypass it with my aces EFI system, yet the stock computer still control lockup?

Re: 700r4 question with aftermarket efi

As long as the stock ECU continues to get the inputs it needs, and the TCC circuit is retained, it should continue to control lock up.

Your challenge may be that the aftermarket ECU likely needs one or more of those same inputs to run the engine (TPS, coolant temp, etc.), so you'll have to find a way to share them.

I don't know what brand system you're using, but it also might be possible to control the lockup with your new ECU. Just need to figure out when to ground the circuit and when not to.

All else fails, you could also cut out the ECU entirely and use a manual switch.
