TV cable bracket on Carb, Which one?

TV cable bracket on Carb, Which one?
Found this forum by way of the Corvette Forums.
My car is a Corvette but seems like you all over here seem to have more of the info I am looking for.
I am doing a TPI to carb swap as I do not like the TPI at all and it really does not run right.
I have most stuff figured out but one thing I am still a bit lost on is the TV cable bracket to use.
I have a 650 Holley Double pumper carb that I am going to use.
I found a thread here from a while back about how to adjust the cable correctly (which seems easier than I thought it would be), but I am not sure which bracket to use on the carb to make it work correctly.
I see Holley has quite a few different ones they list.
Really quite lost on which brackets i need to use for my Throttle cables and the TV cable also.
I see Edelbrock makes a bracket set that shows to work with the Throttle and TV cables.
https://www.edelbrock.com/throttle-a...tors-8041.html
Would this be a better setup to use?

I used the oe bracket that bolted to the tpi plenum and made a piece that bolted to the manifold and welded them together. You could bolt them together.

Thanks for that info fellas.
If I remember right in doing some reading on here the TPI TV cables are too long correct?
And a lot here said to use on from a Carbed car.
I dont know the 3rd gens very well.
What years had a carbed V8?
Did they start in '84?

Yes the TPI cable is to long. I had trouble finding one that would fit. I couldn't get a for sure answer as to which car/engine to use. So I shortened mine about 10-12". First figure out how much shorter to make the outer cable and where to make the splice on the outer cable. Mark it with masking tape. You want to keep both ends of the outer cable. Snip off the "engine" end of inner cable. Remove cable from trans. Pull out the inner cable. Cut a section out of the outer cable to get desired location & length. Buy a split coupler/spacer, slide over outer cable and LIGHTLY crimp coupler just to barely hold outer cable. Put inner cable in outer cable. Connect both ends of outer cable: to trans and bracket at carb. Slide on black piece that connects to carb. Buy a cable stop end and fasten to inner cable. Adjust as instructed in manual.

Although I've been running a carbed engine in my 86 for decades, I've recently revisited the TV cable bracketry and confirmed a few dimensions.
As for a bracket, I've got a Trick Flow adjustable billet piece. It's the same as half a dozen other brands. Its more or less the same as the Edelbrock version you posted.
https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...illocation=int
Thing is, it has such a range of adjustment that I lost track of what went where in terms of positioning.
I used this old Sonnax piece as a reference. It also has similar versions in other brands.
https://www.sonnax.com/parts/2768-th...-cable-bracket
At one time I used the Sonnax part only but I found it to be somewhat flimsy so I stepped up to the billet piece.
You may or may not be aware that a geometry corrector will probably be needed.

No Emission's Amazon special looks to have it all.
You say you understand the correct adjustment. Just be sure to get it right or your transmission may not last long.
For reference:
As for a TV cable, they look to be available from Rock Auto (and undoubtedly elsewhere). I went for an 84 Camaro with a 305 and they had two listings. At 29.5" , it's the same length as what I'm using.

I did see that one on Amazon. But sometimes I just don't know how much i trust some of the Amazon type stuff.
I also saw the Cable on Rock Auto also, Just wasn't sure which car to use to get the right length cable.
I wouldn't think there would be a huge difference in the location of mounting between my Vette and a 3rd Gen.

If the Amazon offering is unsettling, there's always Summit. Trick Flow, Holley, Edelbrock all are represented there. There's a page full of the type I have.
https://www.summitracing.com/search?...ttle%20bracket
The stripped down version, although it lacks adjustability, that adjustability isn't really a requirement. It's setting the length and using the corrector that's key.
This all I used to use until I went all fancy.
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hly-20-95
Only drawback I experienced is that it isn't as rigidly mounted as the billet parts that use carb bolts.
As for cable lengths, here's a 3rd Gen thread on the subject.

I'd think that the routing and distance would be nearly identical.

On that thread in your conclusion do you think the Rock Auto cable
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...t=8484&jsn=459
Do you think that this is the same as what you had posted in that thread on the GM original that you had measured?

I'm out of the house (Canadian Thanksgiving today) but I have a spare cable that matches whats in my car now. Off the top of my head I don't recall the length and FWIW I can't say I remember getting that new one but I undoubtedly did.
2017. Wow. A lot has gone on with this car since then
Including ANOTHER transmission. And engine. Torque converter . Etc.

If I was at my PC rather than my phone, I'd have the info.
I'll see what I can dig up when I get home.
That said,.that GM part number and the length ought to be what you're after..
Compare an 86 TA carbed 305 with an 84 Camaro carbed 305. They should one and the same.

Re: TV cable bracket on Carb, Which one?
I have two identical cables. One which I bought in 2017. The other I had from one of several 3rd gens I've owned. The cable in use is ~36" jacket length. The core when fully extended from the carb side mount is 7".
Works like a charm.
It shows the same PN for an 84 Camaro carbed V8 and an 86 Trans Am with the same engine.
