Anyone yet tried QA1 Strut Mounts

Has anyone here yet tried the recent QA1 Strut Mount Plates (as QA1 refers to said Parts)?

They appear to be nice looking, but as always appearances can be deceiving.
They do not appear to have the same Bearing/ Travel Increase that other Brands do.

If anyone has tried these, or even have just seen these, please feel free to Post.

Nice find. Did you see a price for them? Hopefully they're priced lower than DSE. Ive had my J&M mounts well over 20 years now.

Just checked, looks to be $299 for the pair.

Not bad at all. Right in-between most aftermarket and DSE. Hopefully someone chimes in with some feedback.

Aren't all their strut tops for coil over conversion?

That one pic in the first post of the top view looks like a coil over, but what would the difference be if they are?

They had a previous version that were very compact (I needed this at the time to clear my Baer master cylinder) and upon close inspection it was only to be used with their coil over set-up. This looks different, but also kinda the same.......

Re: Anyone yet tried QA1 Strut Mounts

Maybe it'll work on both now. Hoping so anyway. I like the DSE part, but boy is it pricey. This qa1 piece falls right in the middle price wise.

Re: Anyone yet tried QA1 Strut Mounts

The product page on QA1's site says they only work with the Proma Star struts, so coilover only it looks like.

Re: Anyone yet tried QA1 Strut Mounts

Thank you everybody.

Can anyone provide any information or comparison notes on any of the different Manufacturers of Strut-Mounts/ Caster-Camber Plates?

Thus far I am aware of:
-J&M Products.
-Founders Performance.
-Spohn Performance.
-UMI Performance.
-BMR Suspension.
-Detroit Speed Engineering.

Re: Anyone yet tried QA1 Strut Mounts

I bought the J&M mounts back in 03. They've been very reliable, but I wonder about that bearing sometimes. Not sure how long they last. Although they seem fine by the looks of them. No complaints in all these years though.

Re: Anyone yet tried QA1 Strut Mounts

What is it you want a strut mount to do that the factory strut mount can't do? I've run J&M and factory mounts on my drag only Camaro. Only difference I've experienced is additional caster adjustment with the J&M. I have factory mounts on right now with coilovers with no problem.

Re: Anyone yet tried QA1 Strut Mounts

I've thought of going back to OE mounts, but I mean OE. Not that crap that's out now. My friend bought a set from KYB and the pass mount is taller than the dr.side, POS!
Never bothered to check other brands though, but I mostly thought about it cause I'm older now and want a (slightly) softer ride sometimes, but I also want the additional caster/camber adjustment. QA1 seems to offer that without the DSE prices.

Re: Anyone yet tried QA1 Strut Mounts

Interesting piece. I like the idea of a built in scale, but I'm not sure about the practicality.

Interesting tapered top also. I wonder if it gives you the same range of adjustment as the J&M, or if that tapered surface limits the maximum caster it can achieve? I haven't used all of the range in mine, so it might be overkill anyway.

Re: Anyone yet tried QA1 Strut Mounts

The tapered top to me looks like that's where the spring is centered, being a coil over design. Since they're "off road" use only maybe they dont need as much range in adjustment, just a guess though. I do like them though.

Re: Anyone yet tried QA1 Strut Mounts

Aftermarket strut mounts are solid steel with a bearing, factory style have rubber damper to make it smoother/quieter.

I bought ACDelco "factory" replacements back in 2016 or something like that. The mold they used to make them were smaller than real factory. Just a bit, like to save on some metal or something. They fit, but have to use over sized washers. I would like some real factory replacements to be available. Cost not a factor. (up to a reasonable point) And while I'm griping, the dust covers don't fit good either. I managed to get them in there, but that needs fixed too.

Re: Anyone yet tried QA1 Strut Mounts

Oh yeah, that too. Forgot about the dust covers and the extra wide spots (nice touch). The opening was too small. Neither cover would fit. Especially the taller strut mount. I think we eventually squeezed on the driver side.

I've noticed that with reproduction parts. They manufactures make them all little smaller to save on material. Especially annoying on repro body panels.

Just know this.

ACDelco has never made anything except labels, bags, and boxes into which they put some other company's parts inside of.

I used to be a dealer and sold dozens. Never an issue. They have a great customer service dept if you do have an issue.

Not so much today they dont, but there was a time ac delco (or GM) made the parts they sold. Those were the days.

Re: Anyone yet tried QA1 Strut Mounts

So my current thinking has me leaning between the Founders Adjustable Caster/ Camber Strut-Mounts with a set of Viking Double Adjustable Struts...

Or actually trying the QA1 Adjustable Caster/ Camber Strut-Mounts with the Proma-Star Struts.

I have not yet found much feedback on QA1's Proma-Star Struts.
I have sold tons of Koni Yellow Struts to my customers over the years and some Viking Struts as well.
However I really have had little experience with QA1, and usually see their Coil-Over Suspension more than anything else.
I am not a fan of Coil-Over Configurations on our Cars.

Anyone here tried a set of QA1 Proma-Star Struts? ...Or just Coil-Overs?

Re: Anyone yet tried QA1 Strut Mounts

I have coilovers on my car right now with old style 90/10 struts. The coilover setup that I got with a used AJE K member has plates that fit under the stock strut mounts and that is what the top of the spring is against, wouldn't work with my J&M mounts. J&M and Founders which are close to the same said they had no info for coilovers working with their mounts. Racecraft does have a coilover kit for their mounts and I might try it, it has the top spring cap and spacer that would put the spring pressure on the strut mount bearing. One problem I have seen is when the coliover spring goes above the fenderwell it hits if you increase caster and you have to cut the fenderwell opening.
I'm in the market for new struts and have asked about the Konis and how they work for drag racing. Most say they are too tight on extension. Big difference in price once you get past the Konis and on to QA-1, Viking or Strange.

Re: Anyone yet tried QA1 Strut Mounts

I saw those QA1 units a few months ago and was wondering how they work/fit.

I want to run a Bear master cylinder but am not sure what I want to run for everything around it. Booster and strut cap.

I have been looking into electric brake boosters, Jegs sells one, and also maybe running a 4th gen booster, or even hydraboost.
Haven't decided yet. Currently have some old Spohn strut caps from a long time ago, so might just try those. So many unknowns with part compatibility in that tight DS under hood area.
