How many Trans Am WS6 cars were there in 1986?

I think my car may be one so I'm curious. Furthermore, how many came with a T5?

Re: How many Trans Am WS6 cars were there in 1986?

Pontiac numbers are historically pretty thin. Somewhere around here I've got a PHS printout with some very vague production numbers, surely nothing as specific a break down of WS6 or T5 cars. Most of the numbers you see come from Compnine deduction. In general their records don't go that far back and they're kind of hogwash guesswork anyway, since they're based on invoices in the GM network which often are incomplete.

Even if there were accurate numbers, 86 was a popular year when new. Generally speaking there are a lot of 86s out there. In hindsight the 3rd brake light tends to hurt the value of 86s next to 85s and 87s. Until 87 the T5 wasn't offered on the LB9. So unless the car was a L69, it's probably not of high enough interest to justify worrying about production numbers beyond curiosity.

It's also a near certainty someone will be along shortly to say I'm completely wrong, and who will post a number that may or may not be verifiable. That's how things usually go.

What other numbers does it have on the 86 cars in there?

That's kind of the catch, if you want to know what's in the book, you have to buy it to find out. No clue how much effort the author put into deriving the numbers in the book, but I'd assume it was considerable. Might as well buy a copy and compensate the author for his efforts. If we all just shared the contents of these books, the authors would stop putting the effort into them. Pretty sure the book is relatively a new release and the author was on the forum within the last year sharing some of the data he'd compiled for it. All that said, I don't own a copy of that book (yet), but I'd assume it's worth owning if a person is interested in that kind of thing. It has to be better than the old Red Book.

Nah flip out the smartphone, and snap a picture of the 86 page. I'm sure I can find a free pdf somewhere if I dig hard enough.

It's $26 with free shipping from Amazon. If you can afford to be on here, you can afford to buy a copy.

You're right Drew. I provided the photo as P.R. for the book. It's well worth having. I read every page, even though the data on most pages is not related to what I own. I found it interesting.
