BMR tubular ls swap k member
Hey everyone, I have a concern that I’m not sure how to handle. I installed a bmr tubular k member for ls swap and am using the stock clam shells with poly motor mounts. I dropped the motor in last week and it was a little struggle to get the bolts through the mounts, took a little persuasion but non the less get them lined up and bolted. My concern right now is that there is play in the engine, if I push down on the front of the block the motor will tilt forward and when I release it goes back. I assume there should be some play but my concern is that the ds Head is resting on the firewall. There is currently no trans attached to the motor. I wonder if attaching the trans and bolting the trans k member to the car might pull the motor off the firewall? Any thoughts or help would be great.

Looks great and yes the trans and mount should fix the issue. I'm going with the UMI K Member and control arms since I have their TQ arm and and trans mount with the drive shaft loop. Might be a couple months before that happens as my Son and I just pulled the 350 I built 5 years ago. Ill get some pics and post

I also have the same set up, works fine, you will notice the BMR puts the engine it really close to the firewall and a little higher than some others. They claim it puts the engine in the "stock" location but that is the same answer I've gotten from other k member manufacturers as to why theirs is placed slightly different. My only advice is keep it the same manufacture for the trans mount, less likely to run into issues long term.
If you are running AC (or just plan on keeping the AC box you will have to relocate your rear driver side coil up and forward a few inches. Also the AC/Heater harness that comes through the firewall I would advice putting a clamp to hold that tight against the firewall... if I didn't have to pull the engine to do it that would be the one change I would make at this point. I wish the engine was about 1/2 inch lower and forward the firewall clearance, heater hose clearance, and wiper motor clearance would be much better if it were, and I have a ton of room between engine and radiator.
Are you planning on running 3ed or 4th gen radiator?

Re: BMR tubular ls swap k member
Sorry for the late reply, are you a fellow pilot? Hope so, fast planes and cars, all good. Thanks for the advice on the wiring harness routed above the ac components, hate that and not sure how much it can be relocated. I will keep it as I enjoy having ac✔️
Will do some more checking prior to purchasing the UMI k member for LSX, I believe the MM have slots in them that allow a 1-2” forward or aft adjustment, should be helpful.
Thanks
Roy

Private pilot. I Fly cessnas for fun.
UMI kmember requires you to relocate the AC compressor to top of engine.
Sphon moves the wheels front/rear.
Each has it's own drawbacks. The hooker blackhart set up looks nice and you keep the factory k memeber. Motor mounts, oil pan, and other items it's the full kit.

Very cool thanks for the info, I’ve been fortunate to fly many Cessna aircraft from the 150 to the 425 Corsair
