Re: Console and lid
Does anyone sell reproduction consoles? Mine has some warping around the edges.
Seems like reproduction spoilers are easy to find, but not consoles. From what I've seen, old parts are the only option and they might be warping too, due to age.

You can buy a POS that's been clamped and glued back together from Hawks for a few hundo. Scratch that, five hundred bones for a glued back together, warped piece of trash. Mah bad.

I'm 100% not suggesting actually paying Hawks $500 for a repaired, used console...

The later console with the radio pod is really a poor design. I'm fortunate that mine are still decent, but I can tell you that even in my low mile Formula that has spent a great many years inside of a climate controlled building before I bought it, still has the separation on the console sides as well. Strangely enough, the console in my high mile, multiple owner 89 is actually better which to me, makes no sense at all. The Camaro console never changed and I've really never seen a bad one and even the console doors on those hold up better. They should have never changed the Firebird console. 82-84 was the best. All GM needed to do was build a better console door and leave it alone!

Seems like the console and the wrap-around spoilers just deteriorate no matter what.

Re: Console and lid
My '88 T/A that I bought this year was well-cared for. One prior owner, only 32,000 miles. It has the warping on the console edges and I guess I'll have to live with it. Fortunately, the lid looks like new.

Re: Console and lid
SEM Landau black works good and looks good when you want to change some gray to black. In my 89, I wanted to break up some of the gray, so I painted the instrument cluster and lower dash panels black and swapped the gray door arm rests for black ones. I have been tempted to do the rest of the dash and the entire lower console and radio pod, but haven't decided yet. Might even change the door pockets to black. I still need carpet in this one too, so just ignore that. I love this car because I can change all I want and not hurt the value any since it's just a base Firebird!
