Need the Z gods to help figure out my Z38
Hello all we are in the process of restoring a 92 Z28 that according to the RPO codes is a 1LE. Talking to a Camaro aficionado I was explaining how I don't have a M.A.F and he was perplexed. He stated that my vehicle should have that sensor in it. I'm going to try and locate the motor number and in the meantime I'm going to post my then and RPO codes I am trying to find out if my vehicle has the correct motor in it because according to the Venn and those codes everything else is correct except I don't have a m.a.f..

There is no maf sensor on 90-92 tpi Camaro’s. It’s a speed density system.

Quick visual reference...on the top pic, you'll notice the smooth tube section circled. That's the MAF Mass Air FLow sensor. ....behind the rear runner, you see no sensor. On the bottom pic, you see that air tube looks different. No MAF sensor, however you'll notice a rectangular sensor behind the rear runner. That's the MAP or Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. We typically refer to these MAP cars as Speed Density cars, or SD for short.

A 1LE in 91-92 would have that in the codes. I don't see it unless I've gone blind. Leading me to believe it's not 1LE. G92 indicates it's a G92 car, that doesn't make it a 1LE. According to the book there G92 was needed for 1LE but did not mean all G92 were 1LE. The front brakes would be be the easy identifier. Not that a G92 car is bad by any means.

Yeah, except for "1LE". If it were a 1LE, it'd list 1LE right there between 1AZ and 1SD. T96 in the RPO codes means the car had fog lights when it left the factory. C60 is air conditioning, which had to be deleted to get the 1LE package.
You're misreading the book. The book assumes you've already read the sections on previous years. What it is saying is building upon what was said for 1989. If you read the section on 1989 it becomes a little more clear. The wording is complicated because the book is talking about how the 1LE package had to be ordered. It wasn't something on the order sheet with a check box next to it. A person had to order a G92 equipped car, and also delete the A/C for the car to get the 1LE package.
This fouled up wording has led to YEARS of misconceptions and "1LE hype". Specifically most sources like to confuse 1LE with G92. G92 specifically is the optional upgraded "Performance Gear Ratio". When G92 was ordered, you got the better gear ratio and the oil cooler, 4-wheel discs, and dual converter exhaust. Contrary to the books and magazine articles, all TPI cars in the later years got the "1LE baffled" gas tank. Even the 3.1L cars got the "1LE" tank, and "fuel pickup" also known as the filter sock on the fuel pump.
What nearly all of the books, and the "1LE Hype" followers get wrong, is that 1LE really added larger front calipers and aluminum dual piston brake calipers in the front. If you really dig into the part numbers and catalogs, the shocks and struts were unique to the 1LE package, but pretty much everything else was standard equipment. All 89-92 cars with 4-wheel disc brakes came with the aluminum spare, because it was the only one that fit over the PBR calipers in back. The aluminum driveshaft got triggered any time GM needed to cut some weight, you'll see a bunch of 88 and 89 L98 cars with 2.77 gears and the aluminum shaft, and it wasn't because they were 1LE "race cars".
The downside of 1LE is that you had to give up A/C to get it, unless you're buying a B4C police package car, in which case you can get A/C and 1LE but you'd have to give up the Z28 body styling. The simplest version to explain all of the above is that 1LE = dual piston front calipers and nominally 12" rotors. All 1LEs have the brakes, all cars with the brakes have the 1LE rpo code. No upgraded front brakes, no 1LE code.

here's the thing, our car does have those brakes. Is there a way to order a buyers sheet? As we build this up for my son I would like make an album for him and his as well as when he starts to show it. Thank you again for the knowledge!!

Take a picture of those brakes. There is also a chance they were swapped on. They were available parts.

If the VIN number on the SPID sheet listed above matches the car, the you don't have a 1LE. It's that simple. You don't have the 1LE RPO code and you DO have AC. It appears a previous owner tried cloning the 1LE by removing the fog lights, that the SPID shows you should have, and installing the brakes.

Re: Need the Z gods to help figure out my Z38
it appears you have a cloned 1LE ,nothing wrong with that but it will never fetch the money a rpo documented ILE car will.
i wouldnt get too caught up in thinking it is something it isnt, unless you were duped by someone into thinking it was a 1le car.

The thing is that 1LE resale values are based on misconceptions and misconstrued facts. If it'd been presented more accurately, it wouldn't be the collector bait that it's become. A G92 Z28 will be just as much fun to drive and enjoy as one that has the 1LE code. More enjoyable if you ever have to drive in heat and humidity.

This is where you can purchase a copy of the invoice:
http://www.gmmediaarchive.com/?page=1
However, as Drew, Scott and others have stated, 1LE is not on your SPID sticker so it is not a 1LE car according to paperwork. While you can order a copy of the invoice using the link referenced above, it's 99.99% (minus the .01% to cover) certain you will not see 1LE anywhere on the invoice since it's not on the SPID. The invoice will simply tell you a few other details such as the selling dealership, key codes, some major options etc., but the SPID is the more complete of the two when it comes to options on the car. The build sheet is actually the best but you cannot order one of those and they typically didn't get included in the car.

As a side note. All the 91-92 5.7 camaros were equipped with g92 standard.
