1988 Trans Am 305 TBI engine harness question

I have the car above the the engine harness is in rough shape. It would be a lot easier if I could find a harness and replace it.

I have been told by numerous places that the 305 TBI harness was only made in 1988 and then changed. 1987 will not work either (from what I have been told) I have searched everything I can think of and I cannot find one or a donor car in my price range. This is a car for ny 16 yr old son.

If the harness is different, does anyone know the differences and is it possible to use a harness from a different year TBI and make it work? Will the harness from a 1988 Camaro TBI be the same?

Thank you for your help from a dad trying to get his sons car up and running.

It'd probably be ALOT eeeeezier to fix the one you have. Depending of course on how "rough" "rough" really is.

What parts are giving trouble? Maybe you could get pieces from a junk car with a similar setup, such as a truck, or replace a few of the pigtails w/ new?

There was a short and melted numerous wires in the engine and dash harness. How the car even started and drove is beyond me. Electrial is not my strong suit, so trying to replace all of this has been a task.

I found a donor car, same car, same year, engine is shot, body is in bad shape, but he wants 1k for it. He is firm on the price. No other donor cars around me

I have a harness from a 1990 Cadillac. It had a 350 TBI engine which I stored until I swapped it into my '89 Chev EC K1500. This harness has the connections for just about every smog component they installed on those engines at the time. I didn't need it for my truck obviously and it came off a very low mile engine.

ty, but according to numerous people I spoke with, I have to have the harness from a 88 TBI. I cannot find out what the difference is and without that, I would be in the same spot I am in now.

I don't know how compatible it is but I bet it's close. I didn't toss it because I kept thinking someone could use it. Do you have a pic of your engine bay?

I would have to take one, but it is torn apart right now. How much do you want for that harness?

How about $25 plus shipping? Shipping probably costs more than I'm asking but I bet you could find parts to use if not all of it. I do Pay Pal.
I probably have old pics of the engine in my files somewhere.
