turn signal lights don't work, they just stopped
Hi everyone:
I have an 86 firebird that the turn signal lights don't work, they just stopped.
I replaced the relay (bought 2 so I have a spare) and checked all the fuses, Hazard lights work, brake lights work, tail lights work, parking lights work. green arrows on dash don't light up. ether right or left. but work for hazards.
don't know what to do now any help would be appriciated
Thanks

Bummer, I misunderstood when it was referred to as a relay.
Do you get the audible click when moving your Multi-Function Switch (Turn Signal Lever) up and down?
Do you hear the consistent ticking when your Multi-Function Switch (Turn Signal Lever) is positioned for Left or Right Turn?
If yes, despite the Signal Indicators in the dash being out (potential bad bulbs) have you got out of the vehicle and checked operation of the exterior turn signal lights front & rear when the switch is moved?
Could be a wiring matter, or faulty Multi-Function Switch... Just offering any help I can until a 3rdGen Vet chimes in...

When I move the turn signal switch on the column up or down I get no sound from flasher no lights inside no lights outside for the turn signals . I have checked all the bulbs and they test and work ok.

Check your turn b/u fuse first. If that is ok then since you already tried a new flasher you may be looking at a faulty turn signal switch. All of those lights go through that switch.

We're heading into uncharted territory my friend but by chance do you have an aftermarket car alarm?
With no lights and no sound, we would need a Haynes or better yet a GM Service Manual for the wiring diagrams...
I've found the diagrams online @ http://www.austinthirdgen.org/?pid=19
Also, See PaulyC's reply, he may be confirming my assumption of a faulty Multi-Function Switch...

The best I can suggest is following the wiring schematic/diagram below...
http://austinthirdgen.org/mkportal/m...ody_wiring.gif
going from the actual bulb connectors backwards, It appears power flows through the dk blu wire?
I'm still learning schematics myself...

Yes I jumper the hazard power to the turn signal power at the plug to test and it all worked. So I traced the purple wire backt to fuse block and fiund the purple wire was briken in back of fuse block. Ince I reconnected it everything worked again
good luck
