2.8 Hypertech Power Chip
So I was looking into the Hyper-tech chips for my 88 2.8 T5 and saw that they were priced at 100+ dollars. So I looked on ebay and saw one for sale for 25 bucks !!! Brand new!!! Ordered it, total was 31 bucks. Had to buy it to see if I got some performance out of it. Got it in the mail today. So I go to install it and I find this old Z-Industries chip in there. I couldn't find this exact chip online.
I thought I was running off the stock chip, first owner must have put it in there long ago. Maybe this is responsible for my check engine lights and all the weird driving issues. . With this chip my maroe was running like crap. Very sluggish. I popped the Hyper-tech in there. Man did it wake it up. Faster acceleration, smoother idle, starts right up, no choppy idle like before on cold starts. Just really felt better. Also no check engine lights came on. Well I haven't driven it much yet but seems much better. I was at the JY the other day and found an 88 2.8 maroe just like mine and picked up quite a few parts, including great condition cluster, wheel caps, windows handles and a few other misc parts. It had great mint condition blue seats and I didn't have enough cash on me, . I also took the stock prom. It was an auto car, I'm gonna see if it'll work in my manual car to compare it to the hyper-tech chip. So far 2 thumbs up for the hyper-tech power chip.

Is it the street runner chip? Did you have to put in a lower temp. thermostat? I purchased the stage 2 chip for my Formula and a 160 degree thermostat big difference in response
