95-2002 Trans Am Seats in IROC
Does anyone have 92-2002 trans am seats in their 3rd Gen Camaro? Looking for ideas. Also, do they seem to have a more secure seating position than the original seats?

Yes, I am new. Does anyone have pictures? The seat position for my Camaro can be improved. Before planning for engine work I need to address stability.

Thanks for the information. I want something that give a similar to the originals, but more support. The power function is a plus too.

Additionally the 4th gen seat brackets are lower, better if you are tall.

That will help. I see there is a slight difference. In the earlier seats and they change a little for 98-2002.

Re: 95-2002 Trans Am Seats in IROC
1987-95 seats have an adjustable lower front cushion that they did away with after that. Most of them also have much larger headrests, with the 1987-92 headrests having a front to back adjustment that all the later ones lack.
1998-02 added power; all of the Ultima seats before that were completely manual other than the lumbar controls.
All that being said, personally I think the 1987-92 seats are the best in terms of looks and features, as long as you don't have to have power. Also you can get them in cloth, unlike the 1998-02 Ultima seats, which were leather only. Watch out for 1998-02 T/As with base leather seats, Ultima seats were still an option all the way through '02, and were not available at all on base Firebirds/Formulas for 1998-02.

Thanks for the info. I like the slimmer headrest and power. I have a dove grey interior, but would do black or dark grey.

Keep in mind there was no true Black on the 1998-02 seats; earlier ones are going to be Dark Gray, and later (2000-02 I think?) are going to be Ebony, which is a Dark Charcoal (but not quite Black).

The medium/charcoal/Eboney should work for me. I have a dark grey headliner and black mats so it should tie in.

These bolt in without issues. If you do not already have power run for power functions you will have to do that on your own. I picked up a set of 98-2002 Ebony seats but, swapped the tracks to manual. The cloth seats came out of a 1995 Camaro.

The seats look really good in your car. I will pic up the eboney trans am seats I saw. Your interior looks clean with the black. I will see how the seats pair with the dove grey carpet I have.

I purchased 2001 Trans Am seates in the ebony WS6 color. I didn’t check on the power connector before the purchase. I will have to get two. My driver was power for my IROC, but the passenger wasn’t. I will have to get the passenger wired.

Ebony=black, they are black, not dark charcoal, it's just a name, just like there was no "red" for interior it was carmine. The rest of the interior wasn't black, but the seats definitely were. Also, charcoal=black

Re: 95-2002 Trans Am Seats in IROC
Driver side is already in, pass side I started. I have a roll bar which has been nothing but a PITA since the car is only street driven now but I don’t have the heart to cut it out.
Its not an easy swap, only 1 front inner seat hole lined up and I’ve had to make brackets for the other 3. I ended up welding right to the seat frame/sliders.
They sit higher than stock and mt aftermarket seats but they are a million times better comfort wise and still feel “planted” in the seat. I’m 6’1” and I sit alittle high, probably 2” from the top of my head to the ceiling. Driver seat is power front and back and tilt with lumbar support. Pass seat is mechanical slider but power tilt and lumbar support.

Re: 95-2002 Trans Am Seats in IROC
First pic, the left is driver Camaro seat, its higher but thats bc the guy yanked it in a higher position. When lowered its the same height as the pass side (middle Seat).
The driver seat came with the original seat belt clip attached but its smaller than the 4th gen so I couldn't use it. These seats are SUPER beefed up (not all that heavy) but since they use the seat as the attachment point for the belt they have to be anchored to support you during an accident. so the frames are beefy and thus not really needed as the stock 3rd gen/4th gen use the car body attachments for the seat belts. In your cars if you use the stock belts the seats only have to support themselves in an accident.
Overall the seats are much more comfortable than I expected, not surprising for a car thats only 7 yrs old (these had 51k on them when pulled). Feels like I'm getting into my 2018 ram now which is a big difference over my 5pt seats.

Re: 95-2002 Trans Am Seats in IROC
There is no bracket modification. You have to fab your own brackets, plus cute off at least the front seat hooks on the 5th gens for the pass side front. Easiest for me given how sturdy the OEM frame is was I just welded some 3/16" plate one at a time till I got everything bolted up. The fronts of both seats I used the inner front stock track front hole as my base point, drilled out to fit the stock seat stud. Then I just measured, cut, drilled, bent and welded till they were in.
Ive been driving the car a lot and its crazy how nice these seats are. Hour long trips each way were like sitting in a new car. Felt supported and comfortable with no lower back pain or legs falling asleep like on my racing seats or stock 3rd gens.

I saw hawks put in a set of 5th gen z28 seats into an Iroc and now see these. Im considering doing this as well. Would try to mount them as low as possible even if its with 4th gen seat tracks modified to fit

Re: 95-2002 Trans Am Seats in IROC
That wouldnt be possible. The 5th gens are a much wider track than the 4th/3rd gens. I have a set of front 4th gens in my basement (driver power) and I dont see an easy way of adapting them to the 5th gens. The 5th gens in my pic are moved all the way forward as I had the roll bar pushing the seat basically all the way forward. I have since (few weeks ago) cut my roll bar out and I have been able to push the seat back to a much more comfortable position. As my seat is pushed back the seat lowers and I believe it closer to height of the 4th gen seats. I have a few inches above my head to the ceiling and I'm 6'1". I think your better off just getting 5th gen seats and using what they came with to adapt them to the 3rd gen flooring. Like I said I got 4th gen seats and i wont put them in lol... loving these seats.

I didnt realize they were so close to the rear seats. Thats gonna be a no go for me then since I have little ones that enjoy rides.

Re: 95-2002 Trans Am Seats in IROC
They are slide all the way back. The electric adjustment has a huge range of movement. I moved them fully back to install and snapped the pics. I have them moved forward quite a bit and still have good room for the back seats. I have a 2 1/2 year old in a full car seat and no issues (front and back depending if the wife comes). They dont restrict the back anymore than the 4th gens do as I pulled one out and threw the 4th gen in to test it out. I'm 6'1" and my arms are extended to reach the wheel and still enough room for the kid in the back.

Re: 95-2002 Trans Am Seats in IROC
Man those 5th gen seats look good. This winter/spring I plan on fixing up my interior and installing 3 points in the back. Being 6'4" it does worry me a little about seat height and I have kids as well. Guess I need to see them in person to see the size difference in the seat itself.
Thanks for posting those pics!
