I think I saw the front tires come off the ground half way down the track!

Re: 82-92 F-body 1/4 mile times list
Last update with the sbc 383 NA
and on the next race after an aborted launch the car came crashing down too hard and broke the oil pump and #3 and # 4 main caps still we made it to finals but on the semifinal round engine lost oil pressure and we had to shut it off and we saved everthing except the block .
new engine is ready now is a SBC 408 N/A
but I think we need to rework the suspension and maybe add two more wheels
new time and info on set up coming soon and a single digit ticket

Re: 82-92 F-body 1/4 mile times list
There is a 1254 foot sensor on the track. Also a 594 foot sensor.....I think it is the sensor to calculate trap speed.. last 60 foot of track roughly. Remember your end mph on the slip is a average not a speed at 1320foot. It's been there since they changed over the timing system. This is milan dragway in michigian. But all I care about is the 60 330 660 and 1320(hoping to constantly hit those 10.70s or faster once I dial in the new set up better) I also like the 1000 ft for run completion on my DA app.

VAGOGTA, those 4' wheel stands are impressive and I'm sure it makes a hell of a show but do you intend to launch that way? Weight transfer is about as much as you could get but it seems it may be faster if it kept the wheels down lower.

Hard to argue with those points. Plus it's great to see a "stock bodied" 3rd gen scraping the rear bumper with what appears to be 10.5 rears. Gives me hope.

Re: 82-92 F-body 1/4 mile times list
we got the big wheelie under control, it happened the first time out with the new motor we left the same set up that we used with the old 383 engine and we made some changes to the set up and detuned the motor just a little and we went faster on the 60fts and ET.
this ticket is from the event with the big wheelies check the 60 fts 1.336 1/8 6.168 and 1/4 9.797.
the next weekend after we made some changes we went to get the nhra lic, required to run 9.99 o quicker .
we ran 1.359 60ft, 6.203 1/8 @110.32 mph 9.787 1/4 @ 136.79 mph on first full pass
second full pass 1.343 60fts 1/8 6.174 @ 110.46 9.753 @ 137.09 1/4 @ 137.09
the next day we ran the summit series in Irwindale is a 1/8 mile track
here are the tickets :
and we ran quicker in the 60 fts and 1/8 ET
and here is a pic of the car leaving :

here is the ticket from the last summit race in Irwindale
we ran a little be quicker in the 60fts 1.222 and ET 6.034 @ 112.24mph
looks like 5's and 1.1's 60fts are around the corner , all this is on all motor and on 10.5 tire and stock type suspension and launching around 3600 rpm.

Yes, I would say it's leaving well. While the "looking at the stars" wheelie is cool, this image is my favorite. That is about the most awesome picture of a third gen around. The stock looking body makes it even more impressive. Take the decals off and this could be any car on cruise night that would hurt your feelings if you messed with it!

Do you want the street tire time posted or the drag radial time?

Street tire time. Figure since I'm a V6, and that category is next to non existent anyway, I'll just keep updating whenever I go faster and what's changed. Don't think the 3.42 gear was enough with the 28 inch drag radials and that's why I was 3 tenths faster on street tires

Yea sadly me Mars and a few others are the only v6s that took it to the next level and raced them for years. Hopefully Mars post his times eventually. Right now my 11.59@119mph is the quickest but he ran many many 10s with his 3900 turbo v6

Trying to stay NA, its a street car. Believe with a little more gear, a better trans, and a converter, the car can be quicker. Couple pics of when it went in, can take more. Dont want to get the thread off topic

Saw a 4.3 turbo Cyclone tearing up some Mustangs 25 years or so ago at the track. That lil truck would stroll!

Re: 82-92 F-body 1/4 mile times list
i remember seeing a thirdgen comp eliminator competitor 15 or so years ago that ran an n/a 4.3. obviously it had a ton of trickery done to it, but the car ran 8.60's. not a streetcar of course.
point being, it's a neat combo and it looks like you're headed in the right direction. there's a ton to be had in gearing and converter technology as well of course. i bet with some attention to details. that thing will go 12.90's.

Re: 82-92 F-body 1/4 mile times list
I need a little guidance what to do with you and Mitch. You both swapped head and cam from one stock part to a different stock part. Did you simply create a "stock" combo that was available from the factory, or did you create a new combo that GM never offered using stock parts?
I'm pretty sure in MItch's case he created a non-stock combo so I landed him in the Internal Engine Mods. Not sure what the answer is for you, 91RS5speed. In cases like this my default answer will be Internal Engine Mods.

QwkTrip, you are correct on Mitch. We accidentally (didn't verify our purchase) made a 305 with l98 heads and cam. So the cam puts him internally modded.

Re: 82-92 F-body 1/4 mile times list
Thanks.
Hasn't happened yet, but eventually the never ending debate will come up as to whether heads are an internal engine mod or just a bolt on. It's clear from watching this occur at other sites that consensus will never be achieved so I'm going to handle that by just making an executive decision. We'll keep it a mystery which way I'll lean until then...

Oh, I think i get it now. You just swapped out the intake from TBI to TPI. I'll move you to bolt ons.

I dont post on here that often anymore, but last year this car was running 11.0's or so and I ended up winning the Track championship and Driver of the Year at Milan Dragway. This year had some engine troubles so replaced the 355 with the 383 and car picked up a bunch. I try to make around 200-250 passes on this car a year, this year that is really down since I was broke most of the year but luckily borrowed my dads car. Last year went a little harder than most and I think I had around 325 runs on the car that I can collect from the timeslips all over the car lol.
Let me know if you need more info.

Re: 82-92 F-body 1/4 mile times list
Looking for input here....
I'm looking at how the list is maturing and thinking of changing the category definitions to better fit how things are developing. I made a lot of different categories for basically stock cars with different levels of modification, and then an engine swap list to acknowledge that some people do engine swaps. But it turns out that most people posting have custom built engines or swaps. I am thinking I need to do the opposite of what I did earlier and lump the mostly stock cars together (because they are so similar) and do more category break-outs for the custom engines and swaps.
