I’m rebuilding a 84 z28 camaro. It doesn’t have the 5.0 it has a 5.7 350. Any way I need a fan shroud as the car did not have one when I bought it. I can’t find anything on a fan shroud for the car. I was hoping someone would know what to look for or what size shroud I need for the car. It’s been a headache trying to find something and then found out the factory shroud is discontinued. Thank you for the help.
82-85 v8 Camaro will have the correct shroud, certain non-AC cars in those years did not have a full fan shroud-just a finger guard/upper radiator support.1986 up are all electric fans.V8 firebird fan shrouds of the same years will also work, but are meant to use a 17" fan VS 18.5" fan with Camaro shroud. For non-original shrouds,1991-93 chevy caprice shroud might be close, but I think the radiator on those is straight vertical instead of sloped back like a thirdgen.
I have an 84 TransAm. I like the clutch fan.
Are you saying that I can bolt in a Camaro shroud and use a larger fan blade?
I have to measure my fan blade.

I checked mine, you were right 17" blade.
I would think that it would be the opposite way because Camaros have grilles and Firebirds/TransAm don't. The Camaro should have the smaller fan blade. My clutch was recently new 20 years ago. Car is still parked.
Both upper and lower shrouds you linked are currently unavailable.
So does anyone on here have these shrouds and the 18.5" fan blade for sale?
Check ebay. They come up up once in a while.
I know b/c I just replaced the electric fan in my 84 cam HO.
The wiring in mine is screwed and I got no idea what is wired to where, except I know it's wrong.
So to get the car running, I replaced the electric with a mech. fan.
You will prolly have to clearance the power steering cooling. ( lower left drivers side).
Hack saw works, it's only about a 1" by 3" cut.
HTH.

Used is hard to find! Took me forever to scrounge up a used one after
searchin' many parts yards/pic n pulls in Fla.! NOS or New repops are
pretty $pendy! Paid $20 for used one with the hardware!
weird. the fan shrouds I pulled off of my 85 Pontiac and 84 Camaro both included the upper rad support piece as part of the shroud. the one you have pictured looks like it bolts to the upper rad support where the electric fan would mount?
Yea.........your eyes are playin' tricks on you.
This is just a pic off the net.
The one I have is 2 pcs. also.
It uses speed clips/bolts to secure it to the rad. support
It's 2 piece, look VERY close in the expanded view.
That is the right link, tho.
Something I meant to keep in mind was that the OP never did say wether what he wanted was mech. or electric. I just assumed.
'84 Z28 should have had an electric.
Maybe I misunderstood.
Just b/c I'm crazy and put a mech. fan on, doesn't mean he is.
You're prolly right.
The two 84 HO's I've owned/ own were elec.
The 84 SC I bought new was lg4/ mech.
The other 84 z28 I had I spent so much time working on the rest of it, I just don't remember. ( this was in 1993, a long time ago and my memory ain't what it was)
I also had an 86 firebird SE, that I just drove and don't remember either.
So... this 84 HO is my 5th 3rd gen.
My issue with it is the under hood wiring. Part of which is why I converted it.
Yea............Somebody cobbled up the fan wiring on my 84 HO too.
It has a switch to turn the fan on and off. Works ok and still runs
at 220 area on gauge. Afraid to let anybody drive it cuz most would
forget to turn fan on and off. I figured the mech. fan is my best
option and hopefully she will run cooler.
I'm staying with my belt-driven clutch fan, but I will be adding an auxiliary electric fan mounted to the radiator inside of the fan shroud (engine side) for those times that things get too hot. It will be thermostatically controlled but also have an override ON switch.
