drag-cart (open body)

I don't know where else to ask this.

Those that are NHRA/IHRA experts, I have a '92 C4 that I'm parting out. Once I sell all the cool vette parts, I was thinking of sticking a 500-600hp motor and 2/3 speed auto in it and making a kart.

I'm making an assumption that if I take full-body car, and make it an open-body, I just need to abide by the open-body cage rules, and it will be legal ?

Ah vette cart. One of my favorite Roadkill cars. I always thought that would be very fun to build. Ive been curious the same questions you have, though I seriously doubt I ever go that route.

But I also saw this pop up this week: http://www.thedrive.com/news/20451/m...ad-on-accident

Yeah, such things are not for the street!!

I'll have to review the rules for open body. It's 2400lbs as shown above... That's an easy 9 second car all motor.

As far as I know, it would fall under the same rules as a dragster or an altered. Gazillion layer fire suit etc.
