what is this wire to?
I'm referring to the one with the fat connector running over the blower motor. I found it today when looking for a reason why my fan doesn't blow as fast as it should the other picture shows the end of the wire that was just dangling in the corner behind the blower motor.

Re: what is this wire to?
the other pic is the other end of the wire
I was on a thread that said there was a connector that got burned up on a red wire that ran across the firewall. That is what I really wanted to check on. All my fan speeds run but high is not as fast as it should be.

Both are actually. The black connector is sometimes used closer to the light assembly.
The factory "SMC" fiberglass Z28 hoods used in 82-83 use a different light assembly. Instead of grounding through the hood, they have a ground wire that follows the power wire back down the hood hinge.

Re: what is this wire to?
I had a mechanic argue with me today about this claiming that high still went through a resistor but it's all over that no it's a straight 12v connection. I have had the fan replaced. Is it possible that I have the wrong fan?
