Thanks for the nomination for COTM , my car I looked for a while to find . Having had 7 previous third gens and last one being sold back in 09 , I really wanted a z03 purple z28 . I found this one and this being a 5 speed tpi car was a plus , all previous cars were 5.7 irocs and gta's , except for my 1st z28 I got new in 85 . That car was 5 speed t top car , this car takes me back my high school days of owning my 1st third gen .
It's an honor to be nominated for COTM. It's been a long venture of over 5 years from when I first found my Z stored in a garage not running and left under a pile of stuff. I was determined to have the Third Gen Born Again!.
My car is a 1987 Z28 born pretty normal but I turned it into what it was meant to be. My Z came stock with the following:
Cerebrated 305, World class T5, 323 limited slip diff, PW, PL, A/C, P Hatch,
Black & Gold with a Black interior. The only option which stood out for this car was the F-41 suspension upgrade.
It is now a different monster supporting the following Upgrades.
Gen 1 350 Lt1 4bolt main with an underrated estimated 370 HP from the builder.
2" Dual to 3" Flowmaster Exhaust
G92 3:45 posi rear end rebuilt with disc brakes
QA1 struts and shocks, QA1 LCA's and QA1 adjustable Pan Hard Bar
Eibach pro kit Lowering springs and Founders Caster camber plates.
16" restored IROC rims c/w Gforce Comp II 245/50/r16 all around.
Custom audio and video.
I have always loved the 3rd Gen and built it for my pleasure not for resale or market value. My Z is awesome to drive especially keeping the stock look while at the same time shocking those who come up beside me. Gone are the days of the ****** but the 3rd Gen is much alive in all of us.
Thanks again for the nomination and best of luck to all involved!
Thanks for the nomination, the car is still a bit of a work in progress. I have the interior stripped out for new carpet & new leather seat covers from Princess at lethal Interiors coming this week. On the exterior I still need to send the car to have the new Hawks spoiler painted. I think the perpetual state of "progress," is something many of y'all can relate to. Unfortunately out of town for work, so the pictures in my thread are what I have as I am on a work lap top.
2nd place is automatically advanced to another COTM contest in December, but the problem is Neil350 should have been disqualified because of current state of vehicle. Ls2 GTO should get the 2nd place position, yes? I point this out because 2nd place actually means another chance at end of year (not just rank order in voting).
