I just had a Transgo Sk700 shift kit and 2-4 Corvette servo put in my 700r4. I also have a B&M ratchet shifter, my shift cable and TV cable are both properly adjusted. I have all forward gears and reverse but when i manually shift from 4-3 or 3-2 on the highway it just freewheels and won't find a gear until i click it back to OD. I couldn't find any answers so i had to ask for help
Put a 0-300 psi. gauge on this and get some readings. Call TransGo with the pressure reading numbers. They are very good at finding where the problem is when given pressure reading numbers. 626 4437451 8-4 PST.

So i found out why my transmission was having shifting and overrun clutch problems... The snapring that holds the forward clutches together had somehow came off and broke all the little "ears" off of the center of the gear which caused the overrun clutches to not engage and burn up
Yeah. It hurt when i saw the parts. Now I know why my previous transmission guy didn't want to work on it anymore. I'm kind of glad it happened since i got a '90 trans built but i still have no idea how that could've happened
This happens once in a great while on these. Use the 4L60E hub here as it is stronger than the 700R4 overrun hub. Any 1993 and later will work. Make sure that the teeth (the ones that broke) have not been hammered on their side. As this increases the side clearance and speeds up the wear on this.

I got a 1990 700r4 built by a reputable trans shop close to my house and just got done breaking it in a couple weeks ago. It was $2,000 but it shifts soo much better! Here is the build sheet
