How important is the torque arm bushing? I'm trying to fit a TR-6060 trans and there is clearance issues with the Holley crossmber torque arm bracket and the trans output flange. Can I trim it down or bolt the arm right to the crossmember?
It's important. I wouldn't want to do without one.
You can't really bolt the TA to the XM since it has to articulate as the rear suspension moves up and down going over bumps and accelerating and whatnot. Gotta have some freedom of motion in certain directions.
Trimming might be an option. I'd have to see a photo of it however, to even guess whether it would be OK to do.
Yea, I am thinking that trimming would help. The bushing and bracket extend about 2" or so. If I bend a smaller bracket and cut the bushing down, that would work. Eventually, someone will come up with something. That big flange on the transmission. It is just like the yoke on the rear. All that would be needed is some company to just make a bolt on yoke with a u joint.
I think the Jegster is not available and I cannot find the Alston. The other ones either go off the cross member or hang too low. There doesn't seem to be much info available for the Jegster or Alston, as in long term use.
I think I will be ok with the torque arm. I cut down the bushing and made up a new bracket, about 1/2" thinner. I now have about 1/2" clearance from the flange. Bracket was a little tough to make without any metal working tools.
