Carb swap
okay so my car is almost done but the mechanic didn't use the return regulator like i wanted him to and he has the tv cable in the wrong position i have a street demon carb and he did not use the center stud hole he used the one for the ford trans.
What would happen with the trans in that spot he said he had to put it there because its not long enough , and the regulator he has the supply line going to the return port and out to the carb i know this will make my pump not live as long.

Re: Carb swap
Tpi we got a new shift cable and fixed that but now we need a new kick down cable they say it isn't shifting out of low gear and they have it rigged up with zip tes in a chain fashion hooked up to the stud hole for a ford transmission

street demon carb
You need a throttle valve correction bracket. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-700202

Re: Carb swap
Seeing as this is a swap, any number of things can get in the way of getting the proper geometry. Your mechanic may not be aware that there's more to just putting the cable in the proper hole. If the manifold, throttle cable bracket or related items have been changed, then the alignment and amount the cable is drawn out before and after mid-throttle can be seriously off.
If you're not aware already, here's a link to about the best video demonstrating the details. Maybe with this information you'll be able to tell if your mechanic knows what he's doing , (and so far you explained to us that he clearly doesn't).
It's important to know that the cable isn't "adjusted" to alter shift points. If that's done, then you're on borrowed time and something else is off with the trans.
Good luck.
The video is about 9 minutes long.

Re: Carb swap
One thing i don't understand is my tpi tv cable is too short even though it reached the front of my engine with ease i know it may be something with the bracket but i cant even remember seeing the tv bracket on my car

Re: Carb swap
Check out the link in post #4 above. It describes the various TV cables available. I ordered a new one from an auto parts store for a carved 84 V8. Aftermarket bracket as well which will compensate for any small differences in length.

Re: Carb swap

Re: Carb swap
It certainly is. In a big way.
And the loose TV cable, despite the appearance of the proper bracket, makes me wonder if the cable is actually connected inside the transmission. It would certainly explain the slack. Is there any resistance when it's drawn out of the case or is it completely loose? It should get harder to pull the further it's drawn out as it's working against a spring in the valve body.
