New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
Hope he don't ship out wheels that don't fit that would be a waste of time and money for everyone. I just bought a cts-v front brake upgrade and sold my 4th gen rear and bought a 8.8 thirdgen width if these wheels don't work I'm screwed out of a lot of extra money.

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
The 8.8 at Thirdgen width is what I would've ordered. That's the rigth width for these wheels.
The CTS-v brakes should fit. I know 6LE designed the clearance around all the modern aftermarket kits, but not necessarily around GM kits because computer blueprints of the kits aren't readily available. ...still the CTS v brakes should fit. As with any retrofit kit like that though, anything is possible.

Ok I heard back from Mark on this sounds like he was aware of this issue from the go this is what he said.....We 3D modeled our HUBs off of original IROC wheels (meaning the center part and lugs is identical) so it definitely won’t have the issue shown in the pic. Won’t have pics of them on a car for about 3 weeks though. Thanks!

Unfortunately without actual verification (production wheel over the actual brake kit), one can never be sure of clearance just by using CAD data or even good old math. CTS-V brake are some of the largest you can buy and are larger than even the C6 Z06 system.

-to dig deeper into the grey, kinda where I was going with all that was simply that when purchasing wheels, if the wheel/hub physically didn't fit on the car, I'd be pretty darn pissed. If my adapted LS1 brakes didn't fit, I wouldn't hold 6LE personally responsible. (although I'm not worried) They couldn't possible know all the various custom brake set ups out there. The shear number of aftermarket parts that don't play nice with other aftermarket parts on my car is staggering. It's a constant battle!

If they got the center bore and bolt pattern, it should bolt up if there is no other interference present by default.
You can have brake barrel to outside of the caliper interference - which is just hitting the limit of what can fit inside a particular wheel barrel - for example trying to get a 14" brake kit under a 16" wheel.
The biggest problem is the caliper face to rear of wheel spoke interference, which happens a lot - Hawk's 17" GTA wheels come to mind (and there is no excuse for the poor design) and the Ronal 17" Firehawks (which were designed in 1990 or sometime well before BBKs were common). That is only due to the pad height being too low, but spacers can only solve so much.
I've had 2 customers with 13" 4 piston brake kits buy our wheels due to not fitting with the Ronals in the past. Both jumped before doing the research to show they wouldn't fit.
Of course, the research is key - new combinations sometimes need to be thoroughly flushed out before making the plunge.
Ls1 kit is going to fit.

I'm thinking he will have pics in 3 weeks be nice if there ready to ship by the end of the month. Have to send back my brake lines to Ed not sure what I got but there not thirdgen brembo lines. I would like to hear some tire choices for these new wheels but I'm pretty set on something sticky on all 4s

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
Kinda stumbled on them actually. Wasn't really looking at Continental, but kept seeing them come up in reviews, -all positive. Price was right too, and they don't look silly like some the new-fangle supercar tread patterns. Do NOT like non traditional looking tires. Ironically, these are similar to some of the higher end Michelin's, which you could argue are the best.
Turns out I have two buddies running them on their performance DD's too, and I didn't even know it. They both love 'em too.

The wife said I could buy them (miracles do happen ) so I put the order in tonight before she changes her mind. I don't think she knows this doesn't include tires, or how much those tires will cost.
Of course, I know what she wants... she wants a new kitchen floor. I think that could be a fair trade .

I was one of the first to order, and I'm still waiting for the rendering of the wheel finish we had discussed. Mark seems to be very busy, haven't heard back from him. Good thing I'm rebuilding every nut and bolt of my car after paint to distract me....

What finish are y’all getting? I have a black/gold 84 z28 with the gold rims and Mark said he could get the same gold/bronze finish on these new rims. Ordered mine Friday.

For the people that put an order in recently, did you get it at the $1280 price?
This is what mark said about running the 4th gen rear:
Hey Jake! That’s no problem, I just use 3rd gen fronts and 4thgen rears on cars like yours. I attached a pic of the actual rim for you (this finish is all black with machined face on the spokes). If you want a set, order the 3rd gen wheels but put in the NOTE at check out, 4th Gen rears. Thanks Jake!

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
Yes, the LETHAL30 coupon code still works as of this morning. I originally contacted them through Facebook to ask how long the 30% off would run, because I don't get my bonus check until March. They replied the next day that they could get me a discount, but couldn't ensure it would be a 30% one. I went ahead and ordered them, because the small amount of interest will cost me less than missing a 30% off deal. I'm curious of 2 things: If you emailed them, how long did it take to get a reply? And was the photo he gave much different from the renderings on the site? If so, would you post it here for others to see?

Took him about a week to get back to me. And shorter response time after.

10.5" rears are correct for the 4th gen. Not sure what the picture is.

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
It looks like they're making progress. The site now says
UPDATE: These wheels are in manufacturing and will arrive Mid April 2018.
I just hope that they send the rendering soon. While I specified that I want it to look like what the website illustrates in the photos “IROC Factory size 1” and “IROC Factory Size 2” (which have a polished lip) I didn't specifically call out the polished lip.
Has anyone received their rendering photo yet?

Mark told me the person doing the rendering was in the hospital for some time, and that he was hoping to finish the renderings this weekend.

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
Yep, just finished reading it. Long story short, for those not in the loop, there were some legal issues regarding the name IROC-Z, which 6LE has the rights to. 6LE was in the right, and legal issues have been cleared up and things are moving forward.

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
I got an email from Mark on 3/8 in response to me sending a reply to his legal battles update email saying that I still wanted the wheels and rendering. His response was asking me to send a photo of the car (I did when I ordered them, but whatever) so I sent him the photo again, and continue to wait for my a rendering. However my order seems to be in the second batch, so there are plenty of people in front of me. Has anyone else seen renderings (or their wheels) yet? I'd like to think the early orders would be getting filled by now.

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
No change in status for me, I was one of the first to pay the day they went on the website for sale (At first the link would not let us purchase...). Despite multiple emails to Mark and Kris (renderer), I have not received anything back. I understand the legal battles over the Iroc name, but I fail to see why after 3 months I haven’t been able to select a wheel finish. It’s extremely frustrating, but I do think Mark is a good guy and will work with us all. I hope this isn’t just wishful thinking....

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
I got an email from Mark Thursday, requesting that I send a photo...for the third time. -and I may have been the first one to pay. Regardless, it was certainly the first day.
....from everything I've seen and read on multiple forums, this seems to be par for the course when dealing with 6LE on new parts. Is it Mark, or the nature of the business, I don't know. I know I'm a little frustrated, but time and time again, Mark brings products that don't exist anywhere, finds places to get 'em made, and then brings them to market. ...so for now, I'm being patient.

I've bought my new tires during Discount Tire's last sale, so I've got them sitting in the basement until the wheels arrive.

....as for tire, ehhhhhh gonna be a little while. I'm smack dab in the middle of painting the car and while I got a good deal on the project.....the little things are eating me up. For instance....new windshield. Might as well do it now, right? Anyhow....gotta dig up the funds for some tires!

Re: New IROC wheel from 6LE. What size to make it?
Has anyone gotten a rendering of their car with these wheels yet?
Has anyone gotten a response from, or an inside scoop with, Mark that might give us an update on when we might see renderings and wheels shipping?
I'm still being patient on the wheels because he made it clear that orders after Jan won't see wheels until mid-April, but if that's true I was really hoping to see my rendering photos by now.

Just sent this to Mark:
Mark, and word? .....excitement over on TGO is starting to turn to skepticism. Everyone seems pretty understanding, but it's just that no one has really heard anything.
Do you have an estimated/ballpark ship date?
Thanks,
Chris
