I would maybe try some kind of super glue with a tool to apply it.. I’d have to see a pic because it would depend on the size of the peel, the angle, etc.. I have used superglue before on a non show car and it could withstand automatic car washes.. you have to be quick and precise with an applicator that you can toss out after.. only one chance with really strong adhesive..
I wouldn’t want to use something too weak that would break loose and make it worse. You want that thing permanently locked down.
I’d tape off the paint and it wouldn’t take much.. would depend on the exact situation though..
I’ll try to think of something better I’ve used.. hmmmmm
We often use a "Sealitpen" (all one word) to seal the edges of wraps or problem areas of vinyl graphics. It works well, but it's intended for new graphics to keep them from peeling, not graphics that are already peeliing.
Once it starts to peel, there's often no fixing it. The peeled area will shrink, so even it the adhesive was still sticky, it'll never lay down the same, PLUS...the adhesive that IS there picks up dust and dirt.
If you can replace the stripe, that's the best option. On an original car, your best bet would probably be to get a REALLY sharp (new) exacto blade and play damage control. Cut off the peeling area to save the rest.
Here's the offending decal. I think it's been like this for years. I'd hate to get a whole stripe set for a half inch flaw on a one foot section. I saw that sealitpen, I'm not sure if it could be effective on this spot, though.
Yeah....trimming it back would definitely work. ...and you could always get another small bit of yellow and silver to go back over it if you wanted it to continue all the way to the wheel well. Not a flawless/perfect fix, but you'd be the only one who knows.
If you're going to install any type of clear material on top of it, I'd HIGHLY recommend 3M 8518 gloss laminate. It's what we use on top of vinyl wraps. I could cut you a small piece that you could trim to size by hand. We have tons of scrap. I could drop it in an regular envelope and it wouldn't cost you anything.

....but I think I'd trim it if it were me.
Yeah, send me some so I can check it out. I'll PM you my info.
3M or someone has a roll of just adhesive that you can put on the back side of the decal to hold it down..
Agreed. The problem is that at such a small size, it gets incredibly hard to physically do the fix. Fingers too big!!!!! lol. ...but yes....it's possible. You also have to clean the backside of the peeled vinyl, which is equally as tricky.
I can't believe you have a flawed stripe now Charlie.....better let the car go......to me!!!
Good to hear that fix worked!
I think no one but me ever noticed it. It's been there at least two owners ago. Now it's virtually invisible unless you are looking for it and are 6" away.
