E brake cable too long ?!?
So i bought a new left side cable for my 84 trans am, even though the cables looked new when i got the car, the left side one had a strange nut type thing at the end where its supposed to secure into the caliper so it wouldnt actually secure at all.
got the new one fitted but its longer than the other side, the cable is in place at the caliper end and theres this much slack still, the other side is tight up.
i ordered it from rock auto and it must be the right cable as the two securing points are in the right place ? but the actual steel cable that goes through the outer casing is long. Obviously i cant tighten the adjuster as it will just pull it at an angle and get stuck. Should i replace the RH cable too with the same AC delco cable ?

That cable on the LH side is not the correct one. You should measure your existing cable that you removed and match the length to the replacement descriptions on Rock Auto site.

just been on the site again and the AC delco cable and the Raybestos ones are both 63.5 inches long. the RH side cable is only 42.2 inches long

I am guessing you need the one that is the ~54" cable, but I am not positive. I haven't have the Delco-Moraine calipers for a long time, so I don't remember how they were routed. I have the PBRs now and they are the second revision, not what you need though

took the cable back off and side by side with the old one the actual steel cable is the same length, but the mounting points are differently spaced so the old cable sat in a larger loop near the axle.
wtf....
the other cables for the RH side caliper are the same length, theres only 3 choices.
