1986 IROC back from the dead

finished product

this was how I found her, sitting in the driveway not moved for 4 years.

Found this beauty through a friend, second owner had this car since it had 3,000 miles on the clock and she loved the car. I don't usually buy cars on emotion but the way she spoke about this car I couldn't leave it the way it was. My best friend and I rebuilt the car in about a year, new engine, new trans, tires, paint, decals, emblems, you name it....it was a blast. It has won a show already in only the second outing and people love to look over all the originality and reminisce about the good old days, a great addition to my very small stable. Everything short of the steering wheel is the same as it left the factory - stereo, seats, carpet, even the factory flashlight.

Thanks to all on the site, there has been huge help to getting this project done through information sharing and even parts.
Hope to meet some of you folks one day.

Old Carmine Red Interior. Good luck finding this fabric. I looked all over the United States cant find it.

Went with Car and Truck upholstery company and found seat covers, door panels and the T-Top liner in Maroon Brick

Console got the new carpet color bonded to it.

5.7L 350 motor I started with. Worked the shopping list with Sofakingdom. He was a huge help. Block/heads are powder coated black, intake, valve covers and pulleys are powder coated candy burgundy. TPI plenum, fuel rails, and Runners are polished aluminum. I will attempt to get a shot of the new motor and post

Lots of trial fitting. Whole car was gutted and sound-proofing put in. Even the door skins have it as well. Shuts so quietly now...
